mixed bag about yeezus. great starting four tracks, mediocre next five, and a fantastic, song-of-the-year-level closer, perhaps because it's so nostalgic with college-days kanye fans. but i guess if i wanted the yeezus kind of raw sound i'd be listening to death grips instead, who do a much better job (heard their new song 'birds'?). oh... james murphy? he produced reflektor? didn't know that. still not digging it.. may work out in an album context though. always welcome a more polished, hifi production sound too. and i think arcade fire peaked at Neon Bible. don't think they can top that.

that's cool, only heard Doris out of the three (it's all right). good that you didn't mention daft punk's ram though, sprawling mess that tricked millions into thinking they brought disco-funk back (hercules and love affair, metro area?). anyway. time being, four tet's coming to zouk, phoenix on jan 15, and there's laneway 2014, which has quite a list (check it out). i was pretty unimpressed by arcade fire's reflektor to be honest. will see how their whole album sounds. and haha i'm one of the reasons james won't talk about secondary school, man.

HOLY SHIT, I DIDN'T NOTICE THE SIMILAR MELODY. Wow. That's mindblowing. 31 listens to 5-4=Unity and not at all. Cool. I love it when Pavement have their own ideas of popular music; see Wowee Zowee and it's off-kilter pop. There's not one song I find distasteful on Wowee Zowee. Maybe Kennel District, but then again I dislike all Spiral Stairs-fronted songs (except Two States). Hit the Plane Down ruined Crooked Rain for me. As for Slanted, I've always found it solid but nothing more than solid.

I'm going to Nepal tomorrow. Leaving at 4:30am; if I can still catch you, any good stuff to listen to while surveying the landscapes and sights over there? Procol Harum's self-titled is one of the albums I'm taking there.

hey, you're right. I know he's had a really good relationship with his moms (Hey Mama is a brilliant song) but I didn't think it had affected him and stopped what was so fun about Kanye's initial stuff. Opposite case to that of Flying Lotus' though; his mother's death made him go from post-Dilla beats to post-hip-hop beats (with the song Galaxy in Janaki to celebrate it too). Thought you'd know Mahkaz, what a character he is.
