Yeah, but I didn't really even think about it as separate songs. :D I'd say everything but On the Fence, for some reason, could've been my favorite. :P Maybe the first track so far since the style of the project became as a pleasant surprise for the first time during it. :D

You were right, Arch/Matheos wasn't that tiresome to listen to. I think it resembled early Fates Warning more than some carved-in-stone-prog bands of today. Especially the singing melodies reminded of FW. And the voice! My God, Arch's voice still hasn't changed a bit in ~25 years! :D

Some more groups that might be worth checking: Excalion (great Finnish band), Domine (awesome overly-epic going from Italy - much older band than Rhapsody!), Voyager (AUS; should've listed already - one of my favorite bands atm, especially album uniVers), Edenbridge (just beautiful, lighter & PM version of Nightwish), Falconer (calm but still PM, check Among Beggars...), Galneryus (great Japanese band), Labyrinth (Return to... the original), Highland Glory with first singer has good melodies, Theocracy is religious and great, Heavens Gate, Ilium (AUS!), Dionysus (Olaf Hayer on album Anima Mundi, great), Luca Turilli's solo works, Thy Majesty, Heavenly has pretty much anything PM and the singer's good at imitating others, Allen/Lande (voices, not songs :/), then the "manlier" department: Dream Evil, early Firewind (S. Fredrick \m/), Tad Morose, Dark Empire (same singer as on Savage Circus but not sounding that Hansish :D), Sabaton and, though I can't seem to get into it, Iced Earth. :)

I know Finland rules! ^_^ So does Germany! I think I should just move to Hamburg, drink with some awesome metallers there, become an alcoholic and a sort of famous media persona after that. :D Also the mascot of their pirate-themed football team that bears the same name I do, YARR~! The future's planned!

I love Boltendahl's vocals. :< I think they're extremely fitting to Digger's music! Yup, technically horrible, but so passionate and theatrical at its best that it works wonders for me. :) Nyeah, I gave you too much German stuff. I just say: don't listen to everything at once! It might get repetitive as well! ;) And there are other great PM bands and albums. I see you're familiar with Kamelot. Epica and The Black Halo... purrrfection! :) The Metal Operas by Avantasia are also as perfect as any PM records, that should go without saying!

Running Wild - I'd say the four first and especially Death of Glory are greatest. Wuthering Heights an unknown Danish band with some of THE BEST albums EVER! Not kidding; check Far from the Madding Crowd for Tolkienish and The Shadow Cabinet for very heavy, powerful metal albums! Masterplan - the debut and the newest is a slow grower. Rest of the world :D: Thunderstone - four first with Pasi Rantanen on vocals. Virgin Steele - the most epic and grandiose PM band, Manowarish but better; try Invictus and both House of Atreuses for example. Sonata Arctica 3-4 first, especially Silence; Ecliptica can get boring quickly though. Both Star One (and all Ayreon!) albums by A. Lucassen, whether they're PM or not. Some "manly power :D" are Primal Fear (e.g. New Religion), Iron Savior, Twisted Tower Dire, Tribuzy... Dreamtale's debut is repeating melodies but awesome. Vision Divine (Streams of...), SAVAGE CIRCUS FIRST THOMEN & BGstyle, Trick or Treat (former Helloween coverband), Shaman (Matos)...

Well, can't really recommend new as in 'recently published' because I'm not following that closely. Only one springs to minds: Dragonland - Under the Grey Banner is some of the best PM I've heard in recent years (BG - At the Edge of Time of course the best! Outstanding!). Understand that the following list is THE gems of power metal for me among HUNDREDS of PM albums I must've listened! I'm stalking from your profile what you haven't heard. Here goes: Four albums representing different eras of Stratovarius would be Dreamspace (eerie, Tolkki on vocals, very unique), Episode (my favorite, versatile), Visions (in my eyes their first "modern Strato" album, humongous), Elements Pt. I (the climax of this "modern" style, Tolkki's premier composing style). German: Freedom Call - Crystal Empire, Eternity and the newest Legends... are the best imo, VERY happy metal! :D Grave Digger's Medieval Trilogy (Tunes of War til Excalibur) historical, unique, plain awesome.

o_O I never imagined you could get me so excited about the album! You mention it's old school-brought-to-this-day, fresh, smooth to listen and hooky, an those are music to my ears! ^_^ I hope the album itself will be, too! :D I'm going to give it a shot. One of these days. Or weeks. Or months. I'm kinda slow to listen to anything new even if it feels interesting. And Arch/Matheos is beginning to sound interesting, for sure, thanks to you! :) Yeah, I absolutely love Arch's voice too, and he has superbly maintained it over the years. Maybe he sings wiser than your typical metal singer with a band or three and many gigs? Dunno, but I appreciate his voice nonetheless, but now I have even more reasons to listen to the album! :) What I generally don't like about progressive metal is that it's not really progressive... it's a genre with conventional changes of pace at certain intervals etc.; they sound as much the same to me as, say, power metal bands... Glad if this one makes an exception!

Haya! You're listening to great music as always. Is Arch/Matheos any good? I've heard it being praised a lot, but I haven't enjoyed the idea of listening to a 3 x 25 minutes basic prog album through. :/ Are the songs THAT different from "normal" prog metal "genre"? If they are, I might listen to it. :P Loved the John Arch record A Twist of Fate, but didn't enjoy the songs overly meandering seemingly without any idea, once again. :<
