About a week ago I wrote this to my blog:
There probably isn't anything better at the moment than this cd [Boulevard de l'Independance], kind of a mixture of all the best stuff in West African music. (Although the sabar parts are a bit boring, but never mind, the rest is just great.) Got the cd on Monday and today I (finally) bought a ticket for Toumani Diabate's concert here on November 3rd, I've been meaning to for about a month or so. That's something to look forward to…Another concert to look forward to is the one of Oliver Mtukudzi on November 10th. I'm expecting to get a free ticket to that one, as I'll be presenting on Zimbabwean music and his career (which I know basically nothing of, yet) earlier the same day. His new cd Nhava sounds nice, too.
