hahaha such vitriol. yeah i think listening to it while studying was probably a bad idea. Anything too intense intrudes on my concentration. yeah rec me something bro, don't really hear too much new stuff that isn't house music at the moment *shudder*. have you heard mirrorthrone?

So, Agalloch are heathens in the sense of pantheists. However, I think you've hit the nail on the head when you suggested god as in anything that dominates our lives; an idea which is mentioned in The Bible at some stage. So they are suggesting that men are focused so much on the pursuit of wealth and power, that they are blinded to the beauty of nature and the god found in nature. Extrapolating from that, they may be be anti-christian, but it's a link you have to dig deep to find. Maybe I should expand this into an essay, got to practise my writing's. ;)

Interesting points there, however 'Kneel to the Cross' is a cover, original song by Sol Invictus. I believe 'In the Shadow of our Pale Companion' to be about finding god in nature, hence the quote printed on 'The Mantle' CD; “The happiest man is he who learns from the nature the lessons of worship” R.W. Emerson. Also this quote from the song; “If this grand panorama before me is what you call God, Then God is not dead”, backs up this theory as well.

I think that 'the god of man is a failure' is more about man's failure to be rulers of the planet i.e. the rampant poverty in certain areas of the world, destruction of the environment, climate change, rather than anything relating to the Christian god. That seems to be more in line with Agalloch's views they have expressed on earlier albums. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this, gangsta.

Your musical compatibility with Pale-Companion is UNKNOWN. Disappointing Quinn. Has all the indie hurt you yet?
