And also, I dunno about you, but my first experience with Burial was his sophomore - Untrue, but recently, I've been getting into his first album a lot more. I like the way (like I said before) it's more tribal, with the beats; it feels raw and truthful, like a kind of indigenous music for the sprawling concrete jungle that is London. I'm not saying it's superior to Untrue, I just think I've grown to understand and appreciate it more through a few repeated listens..

Yeah, I read that somewhere. I never got into the Metal Gear games (closest I got was playing a demo in an old OPSM issue yeeeeeears ago) but I always wish I had done and this fact only intensifies my regret that I didn't. Suppose, there's still time - I've still got my old PS1 kicking about; but it just feels like the moment has passed. Oh well. I still love Burial and love how he takes such seemingly disparate sounds and fuses them together into the deep, sometimes-tribal, sometimes-ethereal (sometimes-both) compositions he creates. He is truly unique..

Course I don't mind. I'm honoured. You look like you're rocking to some pretty good music there anyway and FUCK you've seen a lot of bands. I'm very jealous. Errrm, recommendations- well, try Flying Lotus - Los Angeles. Brilliant album, I liked it from the first listen. Also I'm getting back into Burial in a big way at the moment - there's some tracks he did for compilations or something, just standalone stuff that's not on any albums or EPs - quality tunes. Also, that album, We're New Here by Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie xx is good stuff. I don't really know what else to suggest. Go on this blog here - http://postdubstep.tumblr.com/ - you might like it; they usually have good music on there..

things are good boysie. just saw that you were at EXIT festival last year. i didn't go but was in Budapest the days before it started and nearly everyone who was there was going! P.S Primavera?

  • Xhi

hmm .. maybe Grails is something you can get into, especially albums like "Burning Off Impurities", the Black Tar Prophecies-Saga (3 parts on CD, the last part on vinyl) and their latest album "Deep Politics". One of the most amazing bands of our time. The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is also a great listen just like the one and only Buckethead (best guitarist in human history) and the german Stoners from My Sleeping Karma. Well, think that's enough for the moment. ;)
