After 17 years (holy crap) of listening to the Orb I've noticed how here and there some track titles are all screwed up. Obviously when songs don't have lyrics it's harder to keep things in order. Still though I'm surprised how often DR Alex makes things more confusing than needs be.

I'm not saying this to be an ass. I love the man. His music changed my life. I'm just attempting to clear up some little bits that have plagued me through my Orb listening career.

The following is the list (probably not complete though) of track confusion I've seen over the years. I'll attempt to keep things chronological as much as I can.

First off, even before I get to the track titles, LX was in a punk band in the late 70's called Kill Bloodsports. On the somewhat recent The Clock Machine Turns You On: Volume 2, a young Alex sings in a band called Bloodsport. The thing is I'm damn sure that it's actually just Killing Joke with LX on vocals. So, was Kill Bloodsports just LX on vocals for Killing Joke (and they just changed the name) or were there others not in Killing Joke who played with LX. I donno… I guess I could research more.

Anyway on to the Orb:

So to start with, on the Dancebusters Volume 1 compilation, the track is called Suck My Kiss but it's actually Kiss Your Love (Suck My Kiss Mix) on the Kiss EP.

One of the mixes of Little Fluffy Clouds is known both as the Cumulo Nimbus Mix as well as the Pal Joey Mix.

Back Side of the Moon and Supernova at the End of the Universe featured on The Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld album are actually swapped if you listen to other versions of Back Side. The Adventures version of Back Side has very minimal drums and mostly ambient, Supernova at the End of the Universe has the cool drum beat the other versions of Back Side (Under Water Deep Space, Tranquility Lunar Orbit and the Peel Session version.) Yea I know they're basically the same song… I'm just saying.

Featured on the UF Off bonus disc, Pomme Fritz (Orb Remix) is the same song as Star Twister (Pomme Fritz & Apple Sauce Mix) featured on the Pomme Fritz Remaster.

The once rarish Cocksville USA track has been reborn as Peace Pudding on the Orbus Terrarum Remaster

Asylum was known as DJ Asylum for the music video (directed by Ben Stokes of DHS & Tino Corp).

After this point in time the shit really starts to go flying,

EDM (Black Hole Mix) from the Cydonia import is actually the Orb remix of Heart of Black Hole by Denez Prigent on his Yann Chaseour EP.

On several versions of the promo versions of Cydonia, three tracks got the renaming treatment, Ralf, Bicycles & Tricycles and Freely Wheely (aka Feeley Wheely) became Ralph's Cupboard, 2026 and Ba'albeck respectively. 2026 get's mercy points because the boys stole the name and used it in an album title. Ba'albeck gets runner up points for sounding like a cat barfing.

Centuries (Eurofen Mix) from the Cydonia Remaster was spotted moonlighting as Eurofen in Orbsessions Volume 1.

Angel 3 Dub from Orbsessions Volume 1 is the same as Angel 4 Matrix on Orbsessions Volume 2, but whats REALLY crazy is both are ALSO known as Teufel from Thomas Fehlmann's Good Fridge (Flowing: Ninezeronineight)!

Shem Version from Orbsessions Volume 2 also known as Elektrum (Go Past) from a Orb and Roedelius collaboration (originally known as Lost Woods of Timber). Also lovingly known as unnamed BOB.4.5 track. D.A.D.O.E.S? and Shem were originally part of the same Lost Woods of Timber project.

LX's first collaboration with Meat Beat Manifesto resulted in the track Horn of Jericho on MBM's RUOK album. 3 years later it reappears on the Orb vs MBM EP Battersea Shield as Matron. The Bastard!

Even the From a Distance video, the one featuring Doraemon isn't immune to this confusion. One title shows Z Mix while another title says Lad Musician Mix. Same song/video though.

Tower Twenty Three from the Japanese release of Bicycles and Tricycles is mostly the same as western twin brother Tower Twenty Three (Spud vs Kreature Mix).

Okie Dokie It's the Orb on Kompakt 's bonus track Edelgrun is also known as Edelblau.

Also on Okie Dokie the track Because/Before (Sibirische Music) is in fact a Mr. Ulf Lohmann track remixed by the Orb.

ONE MORE TO GO!!!!!!

On the bonus CD to Baghdad Batteries, the track The Doll is actually a version of The Electric Chairs track Barbie Girl (From Badorb records) remixed by Thomas Fehlmann. And to think that it originally came from the band Aqua…
