  • Angels & Airwaves: An evolution of rock

    2 Ago 2009, 9:57

When I discovered Angels & Airwaves more than a year ago, I never thought how much would like to me. I listened The Adventure and... love at first sight!
Now i have their two albums and I know that a third is on the way. No doubt that will be mine too :)

I read many critics against this band ,but I think to know the reason.
The frontman Tom DeLonge, was before on bands like blink-182 or Box Car Racer that has a sound on it, but now with AVA the sound is very different... Now I understand the deception of the followers of Tom when they listen to their new work...
I said "I understand" because i suffered this with another band that liked to me some years ago Dover. Their albums always sounds like but the last one... (no comment).
Resuming on both cases, not only the sound has changed, in addition another class of listeners changed too.

Anyway, I support Tom to create this magnificient music, because from my point of view, he had re-invented the style that we used to listen. Call it whatever you like but it sounds as if we never heard before, AND IS FANTASTIC!

  • Asia Madrid 22/05/2008

    26 May 2008, 20:12

    Thu 22 May – Asia

    Daylight
    Only time will tell
    Wildest dreams
    Never again
    Roundabout
    Time again
solo de Downes en Cutting it fine + Bolero
    Georgia (solo de Howe)
    Book of Saturday (Wetton)
The smile has left your eyes
    Open your eyes
    Fanfare for the common man
    Without you
    An extraordinary life
In the court of the crimson king
    Video killed the radio star
The heat goes on (IMPRESIONANTE solo de Palmer)
    Heat of the Moment
    Sole Survivor

    Destacar a favor:
In the court of the Crimson King.

  • Asia - Phoenix 2008 review

    22 Abr 2008, 18:38

After more than 10 audictions of Phoenix, I've become very impressed on how the album continuously grown on me.

I think the album has all the great stuff that an Asia fan could expect. All the members are very creative and motivated in all the songs, and the production of the album is really gorgeous, taking care on not removing the magic that characterizes the genuine Asia sound.

    Never Again
It's easy how Asia sees their past. Born to be the first song. It starts very simmilar to Heat of the Moment, in fact, I think it's what they hope that would be. Also on the chorus it's very simmilar to True Colors of the second album.
Howe's guitar, really sounds great here.

    Nothing's Forever
Geoff's keyboard at the beginning and with Howe's guitar sounds very classic to me, like on the first album. Very authentic song. I mean, like in 82' but with a very different style.

    Heroine
'The Ballad' of the album. A blood-brother of The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. John Wetton's voice is very impressive here!

Sleeping Giant / No Way Back / Reprise
On the first part of the song emphasizes mainly the classic choirs that becomes very genuine on the third album Astra, mainly on the song Too Late. A great job did Downes when plays the keyboards in all the song. He is, no doubt :D

    Alibis
The work that we took hoping that Howe does in Asia... here it is! The most impressed and creative guitars at the end of the song, he made on this album.

    I Will Remember You
A clearly composition of Wetton & Downes that it had been ideal on one of their albums.

    Shadow Of A Doubt
A very classic hymn of Mr. Downes, a start very close to Don't Cry I love it.

Parallel Worlds / Vortex / Deya
    Wish I'd Known All Along
    Orchard Of Mines
At this point, I think Asia wants to show how sounds 25 years after. On this compositions, all the members try another different way to the band that I think they was been learning during all those years.

    An Extraordinary Life
The Masterpiece. The song makes with the heart and the soul. Can't wait to listen it live the next month.
The question is... Was compound Wetton this song if he hadn't make their difficult heart surgery operation?

Go on guys. You still rock.

  • 25 years after, Asia's music has a face again.

    21 Feb 2008, 23:12

I was listening totally random to Van Halen - Can't Stop Loving You while I open my new email announcing a newsletter of Asia website, when I read "Phoenix Unveiled".

I think it has sense and that's the reason:
AFTER 25 YEARS, THE MUSIC OF ASIA HAS A FACE AGAIN.

After Alpha, there are no more Asia till now: Phoenix is the brand new Asia album that will be released on April, with a new genuine Roger Dean's cover.

I think that this album supposes a pride. A great pride like the Phoenix when emerges blinding and radiant of its ashes. That's what it means to me.

The glory days for Asia will come back, and I will be there to see them. Really, I can't wait.
  • TOP 10 albums

    16 Feb 2008, 19:15

following my 5 TOP albums, those are the following five ones:

[6] Survivor - Caught in the Game 1983

If you like them, it's difficult decide which album it's your favourite from the music of this band because all of them are really amazing.
Again, I have to say that's not necessarily be the best album of the band, but the one than brings more sensations, and that's it!
    Songs loved: 6/9

    [7] The Matrix 1999

Anyway the composer it's great but i'm referring to the Various Artists album.
As Matrix trilogy fan, I can't avoid to make this album one of my favourites.
I'm not a great fan of electronic music but nobody can deny that this album it's a gem.
    Songs loved: 11/13

    [8] Muse - Origin of Symmetry 2001

I think that any musician had successfully been able to mix the rock with classical music as well as Muse.
It's an error to say that this album is not good.
Worse it's say that it's not A Masterpiece.
    Songs loved: 10/11

    [9] Dover - Late at Night 1999

This is an important album in my youth. It has a rebel sound on his songs. I hate to say it, but it sounds like grunge. In fact this band have grunge roots.
Anyway, it takes place on my life and for ever will be one of my favourite albums.
    Songs loved: 7/13

    [10] Gigi d'Agostino - L'Amour Toujours 2000

As the previous album, this one has the same influence on me but this time with the Dance music.
This double album, also called 'Chansons for the heart' & 'Beats for the feet', it makes think that this DJ knows to make work pop music with electronic music.
    Songs loved: 16/23
