The Hundred Best Albums of the Decade ('the Decade' being 2000-2009, duh)

Now, before we start, can I just say one thing? I like music. I mean, I really like music. I suppose, or at least I hope, that fact is pretty self-evident. But then again, don't we all? I could reel off a load of bullshit about the subjective nature of music, opinions, taste and so on and so forth but that'd make this here lil' listy rather pointless, wouldn't it? Shit like this is designed to inspire debate and evoke feelings of outrage, agreement, disbelief and, more often than not, sheer-fucking-wall-punching-bin-kicking-hand-breaking anger. If you can be arsed reading what I've scribed, then kudos to you. Hopefully you won't agree. I doubt you will. I probably don't. If you do you're likely to be a stalker who wants to have sex with me. You better be female. And fit(ish).

Anyway, enjoy. Or don't. I'm off to make some toast.

Good list. thought it was going to be shitstick after Bloc Party but no, pleasantly surprised. 'the stage names', 'the black album' and 'hissing fauna...' would feature prominently on my list which i've been meaning to write forever. yankee hotel would win it. 'it' being any list of albums actually. Best of decade, best ever. whatever. it's the best of the best.

Well, I didn't expect this. Messages of support? Surprising. Cheers. CYHSY has got be through some exceptionally tough times, and as such it will always hold a special place in my heart of hearts (although that sounds pretty gay) and its an incredibly piece of musicianship to boot. Yankee Hotel was like one of my favourites for absolutely ages; I am Trying To Break Your Heart and Heavy Metal Drummer absolutely blew my mind when I first heard them. Sometimes I think its not as good as I remember it, then I actually go and listen and I punch myself for being an absolute moron. RE: Andrew Bird - I'm a fan, yes, but not a massive one. i should probably listen to more of his stuff. His Bowl of Fire work is impressive but I don't know it well enough to comment. Thanks for your feedback though...

This is a really good list. I love that you included Junios Senior's fantastic debut album and The Thermals' "More Part Per Million" in favor of their newer stuff.
