Hey, Stuart! Happy to hear from you. :) I've been super busy myself with finishing up my senior year so I understand that you don't have as much time to talk. I will be sure to listen to that Beck album and I'm with you on how you feel about his music. It hasn't exactly clicked with me either, which is why I figured I'd ask you about it in case you found a phenomenal album I should check out. Have you heard my radio show at all/are you interested in hearing it? I'm posting the archives to each show on my blog via mediafire for anyone to download for free. :)

Sorry to always bombard your shoutbox. I know you're probably super busy with school, but I've noticed you've been listening to Beck lately. I have a lot of Beck albums, but they haven't fully clicked with me yet. What are your favorites so far?

Mother of god GY!BE is so good, I now realise how you have so many plays of them. They might just be the second post rock band that's resonated with me apart from Sigur Ros.

So we got some options, man. Frank and the Dick Necks just sent me something... Two of them are in Orono this weekend (well, campus... [well, Woodmans....]) and they say they can do an interview this Saturday. However, it doesn't have to be if you feel rushed. Also, I have intel that they are on hiatus until the end of this month. So, I need to update my flyers... big con.

I know I've mentioned it before but I really think you would like Shad, he sounds a little bit like Talib Kweli. I downloaded all three of his albums (When This Is Over, The Old Prince and TSOL) after hearing two of his songs and I'm so glad I did, all three are brilliant and consistent all the way through.

If you haven't already decided which songs to put on from Seven Swans I'd suggest To Be Alone With You and Size Too Small as the most accessible. A Good Man is hard to find would be my other suggestion. DON'T FORGET TO REPRESENT A SUN CAME, I recommend this

In comparison to his other records I'm not that familiar with Michigan either (I've still listened to it way more than most other albums but nowhere near as much as Illinois or Age of Adz) but I would say you should include at least one and maybe two songs on the mixtape just to represent the album. It depends on what other songs you have on there, if you think your friend likes beautiful instrumental music I'd suggest Redford, if you're short of more upbeat songs I'd suggest either All good naysayers speak up or detroit lift up your weary head, if you're short of sad songs For the widows in paradise is a good one (still have it tagged as for the windows in paradise on my itunes lol) or romulus, and holland is incredibly calming if you need a break from impossible soul and djohariah. Sorry if that left you no better off than before, you could put pretty much any of those on and I think it would be good, maybe leave off for the widows in paradise if you're friend isn't a fan of banjos.

Also, sorry to bombard your shoutbox once again, but I see you've been listening to The National as well. They're amazing and I need to listen to their discography again sometime soon.

Unfortunately not :( they sent me an email only on Friday saying that Mike had Visa issues and couldn't come over. It probably worked out best in the end as we've had loads of snow here and it would have been a long journey there and back, but it's still real disappointing. The statement said he plans to reschedule them so hopefully he'll be back over!

Have you ever listened to Superchunk? This song has become one of my favorites. I figured you might enjoy them since you like a lot of indie rock from the 90's.

Yeah, it's a bit of an experience. The first time I ever heard them was through a girl I used to obsess over in high school and she let me listen to Run, Run, Run and I just remember listening to it while looking at her and thinking 'this I could definitely get into'.

Lola vs Powerman is probably my tied favourite Kinks album. Are these your first forays in the music of VU and Kinks? The first three VU albums all need to be digested quickly if this be the case.
