Are you familiar with these two songs, "French Kissin in the USA" by Debbie Harry and "Bring Me Edelweiss" by Edelweiss? I think you'd like these two :)

I'll give Girls Aloud a listen and give ya my thoughts. I'll also check out that social media site/app. What do you think of Grace Jones' cover of "love is the drug"--Roxy, not Ke$ha. Ha, a Grace Jones cover of any Ke$ha song sounds like it could work, actually. In this cover, GJ's delivery is so detached and it works so well. I also got really drunk at a gay wedding this past weekend and sang Britney's "Till the World Ends". Such a fun song to sing.

"Reflektor" is something I really like! Thanks for telling me about that one. I went to an engagement party this last weekend where I talked to this music journalist. She and I talked about her interview with Peter Hook who volunteered a lot of information without being asked about it--info you might already know (or not). Hooky volunteered that he has in recent years become really guilty about not paying attention to Ian Curtis' troubles years ago--all a result of his having to raise his own children and care for their psychology. He volunteered that Bernard Sumner is a really ass hole and that he and the other remaining members of New Order never asked him if they could continue using the band's name. This is what upset him. Cool stuff I think.

The Britney song sounded as if she were saying "Want a panini?" at first. "Work Bitch" compels me to work harder for greater conspicuous consumption of paninis. Oh, Cher, I remember all too well when you Cher'd that song with me. Is that song worse than anything off of the Barry Gibb/Streisand album? I heard "Woman in Love" in a 7-11 in Taipei over the summer, so I guess I haven't forgotten that song (again) quickly enough.

You'd probably like the deep in meaning/new Britney Spears song "Work Bitch" out now. It's a song about the Protestant work ethic-ha!. Lyrics: you want a Lamborghini sippin martinis look hot in a bikini you better work bitch

Felt Mountain told us Goldfrapp had it in them to make their new Tales of Us. They yet again stripped away the beats and the synths (for the most part) and we're left with a lot of simplicity. It's definitely not an album I want to play when I have friends over. They might fall asleep. It's excellent study music. The first 3 songs "Annabel", "Jo", and "Drew" as well as "Alvar" are perfect songs, so atmospheric. The second half is more reminiscent of Felt Mountain than the first half, I think.

Too bad there isn't a song about stigmata lasers coming from starfish in the sky. That painting could inspire a song, you know. About 8 months ago I tried to find that painting again, but I gave up looking. I should try again.

Or rather he acknowledges Bowie is an influence but still says he gets annoyed that people compare him to Bowie. That doesn't make any sense!

Also, my really good friend Zack interviewed the singer for Diamond Rings last September--I was kind of surprised to see this interview surface yesterday though. The singer is annoyingly cryptic when it comes to his sexuality and is in such denial that Bowie is a big influence, but he says some really interesting things about his relationship with DM. This makes me want to hear his music again. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/zack-rosen/the-thin-white-dork-diamond-rings-john-oregan_b_2975247.html

Amanda has slept with every male member of Melrose, no wonder the man wonders if the baby is his. Is season 6 better than 7? Also, Jane comes back in season 7--I had to refresh my memory of this on Wikipedia--how does that go?

Look at all that Echo! I had an Echo phase a couple of months ago--more specifically a post punk phase. It was winter and cloudy, so it seemed appropriate. I've been very, very slowly re-watching Melrose, as you may remember. Tonight, my roommate and I watched as the previously-thought-dead Kimberly watches from a dark ocean beach as Sydney and Michael makeout in their open beach house. The next episode is called "The Bitch is Back", appropriately.
