Silvio Rodriquez and Phil Ochs aren't exactly in rotation on Clear Channel. (Not that that's a bad thing)

Thanks for the add. Our tastes seem similar, but yours runs a little more eclectic...

Hello there, just a quick shout to make sure all is well... sorry for late reply... No need for apologies about the shout on Dylan's page if my thoughts were private I wouldn't leave them in such a public place and i will have to check Sammy Walker , I have never heard of him... take care, Sylvie.

hey there! yeah, it’s always nice to talk to someone with similar taste in music ! sammy walker, wow, i’m impressed, i didn’t know him at all! just found and listend some of his songs- you’re right, he sounds a lot like dylan and little new jersey town is really good ! i think for people who aren’t such a big admirers of dylan’s music it would be hard to tell, which is dylan and which walker. anyways, thank you and if you got some more recommendations i’ll be happy to check them out ! :)

Hi there, thanks for your reply :-) " a revisionist, petty-bourgeois bastard..." Dear Lord, you want me ostracized !!!! i am joking :-)) Yeah i belonged to a ML group but that was many, many years ago.... I discovered to my great regret that whilst at the grass-root level , most people were genuine,on the national level the group was infested with what I would call " Intellectual masturbators " who were far more absorbed and interested in political theories than actually trying to improve the plight of the working-class for whom, I will say they had a lot of contempt.... But I am still very much an idealist and nothing will ever supress that.... I followed Olivier Besancenot's progress with great interest, have you heard of him?.... ;-)) You saw one of my shouts on one of Dylan's track? Which one? And yes as you will have discovered I have extremely eclectic tastes when it comes to music :-))) Are you in the UK?

Hi, Marxy, nice to see you again! I've been overdosing on Dylan, Phil Ochs and now Leonard Cohen recently, maybe you noticed and thought you'd check in for old times!

Thanks a lot! Neil Young sounds great; I listened to Simon and Garfunkel once but unluckily had forgotten them. Victor Jara's music is just the best, but at the moment I don't have it in my PC and that's the reason it's not in my list. I'll check the other artists you suggested later. PS: Maybe you would like Sui Generis, folk rock with some progressive rock songs.

I'm trying to get over his admittedly brilliant Dylan impression, because I REALLY like Catcher In The Rye and this Testimony song ain't bad either.

Well, I'm listening to Sammy Walker now and while he isn't quite the revelation PF Sloan was when I heard him last month, he's pretty good. But he's just too much almost a parody of Dylan in many ways, especially vocally, and a little too trad for my tastes. I do like Catcher In The Rye though, and the others will probably grow on me. Actually, I'm listening to it again now and I REALLY like that track.

God, what a FANTASTIC collection of Phil Ochs you're listening to - never even heard of A Toast To Those Who Are Gone! To be honest, I'm not sure now how I got to your site, possibly you were listening to Brokenjarafingers (my musical protest song alter-ego) and I saw you on my Listeners page? Otherwise, some divine implement guided my fingers, lol!

Walking along streets that collapse from crumbling sewers. Past buildings that you jump to avoid because they will fall on you. Past grim faces that size you up and sentence you. Past closed shops, closed markets, closed cinemas, closed parks, closed cafes. Sometimes showing dusty signs, justifications: "CLOSED FOR RENOVATION," "CLOSED FOR REPAIRS." What kind of repairs? When will these so-called renovations be finished? When at last will they begin? Closed... closed... closed... everything closed. I arrive, open the countless padlocks and run up the temporary stairs. There she is, waiting for me. I run my fingers over her keyboard and suddenly it all starts up. With a tinkling sound the music begins, little by little, then faster; now full speed. Walls, trees, streets, cathedrals, faces and beaches. Cells, mini-cells, huge cells. Starry nights, bare feet, pines, clouds. Hundreds, thousands, millions of parrots. The walls recede, the roof vanishes, and you float quite naturally. You float uprooted, dragged off, lifted high. Transported, immortalized, saved. Thanks to that subtle, continuous rhythm, that music, that incessant tap-tap.

I’m just average, common too
I’m just like him, the same as you
I’m everybody’s brother and son
I ain’t different from anyone
It ain’t no use talking to me

It’s just the same as talking to you
