Im looking forward to your full review : ). I still havent had the time to really listen to Scums, but for now i would say this album is on par with Scums. There are 3,4 songs i enjoy listening: Song 4 (Tokyo whatever). Because of the weird effects and wacky 8 bar guitar solo. Melt into blue sky. It has a nice vocal melody. Its nothing spectacular. In fact, it has a somewhat generic Nightmare feel to it, but I enjoyed it. Lulla[by =bye]. Extreme lame VK title. But i like the the muted guitar and the piano. Im not really happy with the chorus, because it makes the songs turn in yet another generic rock song. The outro is too long btw. They could have cut it 5:25 or whatever. The chorus of LLB reminds me of a famous american song. But i dont know which. Maybe a song of Jesus Christ Superstar, im not sure. One part of the chorus almost has the exact same melody. Oh, and Kenka Drive is a lame, boring and blend instrumental. But they at least tried...

Could you do a review on Nightmare's latest album?

What do you think about Creature Creature? I see you listen them too : )

Ye i agree. But must say that i found the first two songs (including the A side) pretty boring and forgettable. Not that Killed in Summer is a huge suprise, but its actually a step up quality wise. I see you listened to Kamijo's single and Classical Element. What do you think about Classical Element? I found Louis kinda blend, or just not exciting enough...

Killed in Summer from Nightmare is imo the best song on the single. What did you thought? Had some great bass licks and some nice guitar. Vocals also felt pretty catchy.

Maybe we get interested in Nightmare again if they decided to do a Europe Tour : ). I mean, i would definitely go to their show! And ye, lets wait on Classical Element of Jupiter. The title itsels suggests major classical influences (which sounds good).

Jupiter. Only talking about the A side: Good guitar, pretty decent vocal melodies but straight garbage vocals. Cant listen to that voice. The only reason why i would listen to the A side is because of the guitar. The guitar on the other 2 songs isnt even that good that it compensates for vocals, so not going to ever listen to those songs. What about you? Have you heard the single? What did you thought?

I cant really listen to them anymore. I am trying to listen their latest album (which i only listened once) but im not interested anymore in Nightmare. My musical tast evolved. It was actually the second band i ever listened too. Now, ive heard so much more (high end jazz, classical music, blues, technical power metal, noise) that they just feel bland and simple. The only reason i listen to them is because of the vocal melodies. I was not really a fan of the vocal melodies on the latest album (from what i remember). Its just. I dont have alot of time to listen to music. There is so much music around (so much that is better then Nightmare), that i cant find time for it to listen to them again...

Im not really a fan of such voice effects, but thanks for showing me : ). Actually the second real song (vocals) has some cool elements in it (keyboard). The first real song on that album actually does have auto-tune filters (or basically a pitch pedal), and i believe the same for the third song. You can hear how at some parts the vocals pitch slides (which is what you get with a pitch pedal). Im am wondering how they would use such pedal real time, since that basically means you have to sing out of sync and then pitch your voice to the correct octave in order to get the effect. Most of the time, this filter isnt used real life, but during the studio mixing, at least for vocals. They do frequently get used for guitar (solo's etc) at lives.

I thought there were only vocal delay and loop pedals...

Modern day software ables you to save the voice filters (which most of the time is a combination of various effects, similiar to those guitar effects) as patches/samples.Then during a live, you can actually use the presaved vocal patches real time. I know its possible with the new version of Logic Studio. But it has limitations. Most of the time (when we are speaking about complex vocal distortion and filters), vocals with voice filters are fully mastered and mixed, for the full effect. Obviously, the live performance will lack all those details and effects that have normally been mixed on the go. Still it would be nice to see them use voice filters on the live. Any particular song from those bands i should listen that really utilise good filters (not generic chorus filters or flangers)?

Well you dont actually hear alot of bands using voice filters. I thought the voice filters from behind the mask were a breath of fresh air. Since all the other voice filters on the album are semi auto-tune voice filters. And if you know other bands with similiar voice filters, i would love to hear them :)

Thanks for your opinion about the album :). It seems our tast is a bit different. I thought behind the mask had some really interesting elements in it (especially the insane distored vocals). And i felt Dissemble was all right. You are right about the fact that sometimes the synths are a bit too loud. They sometimes didnt mixed it right. But you allready enjoy 5/12 songs, then i think pretty deccent : ). But you bought it right? I mean, im allready content if i enjoy 4/12 songs (since i dont pay for it). I guess your expectations are a bit higher since you actually spend money on the album (which i understand).

I allready said what i think about this album overall. Again i felt the album was ''deccent''. I thought that some melodies were a bit messy and overal not really catchy, but i might change my mind after listening it a few times. There are some suprises on the album, especially on the bass side. Still i actually thought this album would turn out very differently. When i saw the tracklist i was expecting some experimental and for some reason trashy and weird songs, with voice filters and very distored guitar solo's (and maybe a bit GIanizm-like). I was expecting songs like Paranoid. But i guess i was wrong (although there are alot of voice filters to be found). When you cut of the synths the songs actually do really feel Nightmare esque, although not all. You said the album was going to be more mature etc. Im not sure if they succeed. Anyways, let me know your opinion about the album Madygrain. I want to know your opinion in detail too :) (like at NIGHTMARE). Thanks in advance!

'I’m not'. At first I thought: ‘this is gonna be a song like Simple Life’, but no, this is a more synth filled song (surprised?). But then when you listen further, it actually does end up being a bit similar to Simple Life. Its midtempo, and it has a ballad-esque and peaceful feel too it. Some nice melodies too. Chorus is pretty nice too. I might end up liking this song the most of the album. Just because of the pretty vocal melodies. The 8 bar solo is nice too. Im just gonna call this song Simple Life 2 :) Black Out is more upbeat and stronger song. But damn the main riff is overused in the song. This song also has a tempo change. It has a very distorted guitar solo. And its good. Behind the mask is another song with clear bass elements. Behind the mask is the only song that has some interesting voice filters. There are moments where Yomi sounds so incredible distorted. The whole song should have been in sung in that style. Because it has such dark vibe.

Droid’s opening gets your attention. Yes, the song starts pretty cool. Then the vocals kicks in. Voice filters again. But not really great ones. The chorus is pretty catchy. The part after the second chorus is a surprise (maybe the biggest surprise on the album). The solo is also pretty decent. Overall pretty interesting song, for Nightmare standards (i know that doesnt sound nice lol). 404 is ANOTHER synth filled song. Back vocals seems to be from Sakito. 404 is a weird song, I was expecting some messy hard rock / metal song, but it isn’t. It does have some weird elements in it (like some of the backvocal shouts) and a part where Yomi’s vocals are all fucked up. That part is actually pretty interesting. But its short, and it feels a bit random since its the only part that sounds like that.

Error’s is a more synth filled song, a bit like Riddle. Again the bass is something that you notice immediately, at many parts of the song actually. Error’s has a pretty nice solo. It might be the best solo on the album. Overall one of the better songs on the album, although it does nothing new.Track 8 is another synth filled song. But this one is even heavier on the synths then Error and Riddle. The voice filter seems to be similar like the one of Swallowtail. Also loads of synths in the chorus. Listening to the synths makes me wish they made an industrial song of this. There is a short guitar interlude in the song, but no full blown guitar solo. Again: it’s a shame. A rock song without a solo is like bread without butter (or whatever).
