I was just going through some profiles of people I follow and noticed Taylor Davis in your charts. That name sounded familiar. Turns out she was on my list of artists to look into this week. Beautiful music! Reminds me of Lindsey Stirling, but less electronic. I always thought Stirling was rather overrated too. Looks like that bumped up our compatibility a little to 98% Btw, how was the Last.fm 100 billion Scrobbles cake? :)

Huh. Neat. I'm not a big fan of social media. I had a Twitter account before it was 'cool', though :) I'm currently following 2,701 artists on Spotify so this app covers the new releases perfectly. It does all the work for me - great for a power-user like myself! But following my favourites on Twitter does sound interesting. Seeing what they're up to and whatnot. I usually only go to Facebook or Twitter when I'm looking for some info or pictures to upload to artist pages here on Last.fm.

Yeah, it's definitely worth checking out - if you have Windows 10 that is. How do you usually check for new releases? I think I follow too many artists to do it any other way. I used Swarm.fm for a bit, but that wasn't much better than Spotify's buggy notifications. It's just nice having a fresh list of brand new music each day. That means a lot of new album artwork to upload though :)

Yeah, lots of work ahead. But the website still has most of the main features that brought me here in the first place - though I do miss a lot of stuff from the old site. Library improvements would be great, but I guess I get along OK using Spotify's infinite playlists as an extension from Last.fm. About 6 months ago I started creating these 'mega playlists' for certain genres with up to 9,000 tracks. Great for playing on shuffle. It's like a personalised radio, but better since I created it. I keep all of my favourites at the top. By the way, do you use Spotify? They recently removed the push notification alerts for new releases. Someone on the support forums recommended an external app for Windows 10 and I can't praise it enough. It shows every single release from artists you follow on Spotify, even songs/ albums that feature an artist you follow. It's brilliant. I couldn't live without it and I've been recommending it to everyone! "Companion For Spotify" on the Microsoft store :)

Yeah... Quite a lot :) I never really used to be that into music. I'd just play the same few rock bands on repeat every now and then. What sparked the change was a 6 month membership for Spotify premium that came with a phone contract over 2 years ago. I then discovered just how much music there is out there, and I had it all at my fingertips. When the beta site went live I only had about 800 artists in my library and now I'm close to 7,000. I've always worried about losing artists or passing by someone who could end up being 'the one'. I spoke to a friend who has a very large collection and he persuaded me to just keep discovering at my own rate - so I did. The only problem is that it's incredibly hard to manage now! 6,989 artists, that's 14 per day on average! The upside is that there's so many brilliant new genres and tracks I've experienced and listened to. I like to share a lot of them with my friends. My listening habits are unsustainable though. I just love music so much :)

Hey Jon. I guess my main issue is that I'm constantly discovering and sharing great music. My listening habits have changed significantly over the last 6 months and I now listen to a huge amount of new music from loads of different genres. I have so many names floating around in my head that it's next to impossible to remember them all. There's some amazing artists worthy of the top 100 place in my charts that are just lost in the abyss of my library simply because I can't find them again. I can't search search by genre (tags) anymore, and navigating with 50 results per page is slow and difficult. When people ask me to recommend them music for a specific genre I can only list a few names, even though I might have 500 artists I really love for that genre. Part of me needs to make sure that the 'great' artists are listened to and not lost with only 1-2 Scrobbles. I guess I'm in the minority, and it's just a problem I've brought on myself because of my listening habits. :)

I loved what you did with the site and I have been using like 6 years now. My fave site, really. But I'd love to see that restored. Thanks :)

I meant that it would be cool if it showed the "scrobbling from xxxx" with every track like it did a few years ago.

It would be so bloody awesome if the profile would show the music player again. Roll on, Jon :)

OK, I think I've figured out the issue with XiiaLive not scrobbling. It has to do with the latest Last.fm official app apparently. The lead developer said he was "looking into it", but that was seven months ago. Supposedly, it works with Scrobb for Last.fm. I haven't tried it with XiiaLive, but it doesn't seem to work with my local music player. :\ http://support.xiialive.com/topic/809954-lastfm/

Also, one more thing. I know you guys are all very busy but I have an issue I've reported awhile back and their are others apparently having this issue as well. I have a large number of scrobbles from mid-late August which disappeared. These were not from the short period where it was neither caching, nor scrobbling and they are all for artists whose names are non-Latin characters (i.e.-Chinese, Japanese, etc). None of them were being auto-corrected. Interestingly enough, they all seem to be from the same series of compilations, with similar album-naming conventions. These tracks scrobble fine since. I've theorized that it may have been a bug from when you guys deleted duplicate scrobbles left over from the migration. Also, tags I submitted for many of these artists during that same time period disappeared from my tags. Is there anything that can be done about it? Thanks again for your help. https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/tags-and-scrobbles-missing

Hey Jon, completely agree with what pizzi said below. Sorry about that. I guess we're just losing patience with the sock puppet troll brigade. Anyway, are you still having issues scrobbling from XiiaLive? What type of device and OS are you using? Silly questions, but have you enabled scrobbling under Settings->Accounts? FYI, I'm using Android OS 4.4.2, Last.fm 1.9.9.1, XiiaLive Pro (not sure which version, whatever the most up to date one is).

Hi Jon, How do you feel about Rdio declaring bankruptcy protection? They're selling assets to Pandora. http://techcrunch.com/2015/11/16/confirmed-pandora-buys-key-rdio-assets-for-75m-in-cash-rdio-files-ch-11-to-shut-down/#.7kebr66:rIia I didn't use Rdio all that often as I found it a bit diffucult to find the disappearing slidebar. :-0 Also I guess no need to add Rdio on the radio bar. Boy it's hard to stay viable in the world of web music.

Thank you for you kind response! I wasn't expecting it & it helped a lot. I know that the "behind-the-scenes" story is always more complex than what appears to those who aren't in that position. I'm hanging in with last.fm, (although I'm missing quite a few friends who didn't), because I think it still has the potential to course-correct, especially if it takes its members' information to heart. I find it interesting that over 10,300 people have signed the petition to "bring back the old last.fm". I know it will never come back exactly as it was but I have hope that the best of the old can be brought back & integrated with this new design. Again - thank you, Jon, and best wishes to you & the rest of the staff.

Man - you staff members have been taking some flack! A link to your post in June (before the release of the beta version) was just put out in the forum and I have to say that it was the best response I've seen (& I haven't found too many) to the community's despair with this new version that many are calling LOST.fm. The members outraged & anguished outcry is a palpable manifestation of the members' love for & appreciation of last.fm. I just wanted to thank you for your measured and honest post (which I would never have seen without the link). I know you've done a lot of work and I feel uncomfortable with the more vitriolic posted reactions. And I have to say that the whole beta release was a very unpleasant shock for me & for what seems like everyone! I'm asking that you & the rest of the staff please take very seriously the requests for the return of all the features that made last.fm a unique and cherished communal music site. Thank you.

The new beta is the worst of the worst...My scrobbler doesn't work. The "Now Playing" function is broken. My "profile" doesn't work. My "followers & following" tab doesn't work. Followers & following sounds like; "stalkers & stalking" UGH what happened to "friends" ? It's a very cold site. I was ready to give it up but I'm hoping you can fix the problems. Give users a choice of "classic last.fm" or the new "beta" which sucks. I'm not able to sign my signature. I'm hoping writing can fix the problem. Thanx mucho ...Donna Palmer aka mygoddess

Hey I've been experiencing a problem and so have some others from what it seems from the forum. Some time yesterday, over 100 of my artists and a lot of scrobbles from a lot of my other artists disappeared. There's no notification of what happened on the status page (maybe it has to do with image fetching? Probably not but that also arose a day ago so who knows). I'd like it if someone could explain what happened, and if I could get those scrobbles back. Thank you nonetheless.
