Amazon gives the metaphorical finger roll to iTunes and they say it made them uncomfortable and called no homo, but a small part of their soul enjoyed it and will be blogging it on Bebo

On-demand is a phrase to recently come in to the mainstream dragging along ecosystem, digital piracy, intellectual property, riot grrl 2.0 and other industry buzzwords noone but RIAA fucks are arsed to remember. The addition of last.fm tracks on-demand prompted copycat (thieves) iLike.com to introduce a similar service and a new generation of webripping tweens to fire up their Audacity and distribute low quality transcoded tracks to the blogger lurkers of the world party. Whatever happened to v0 VBR 320 kpbs rips, does noone care about quality anymore? You're all like bootleggers sitting in the theatre working the camera like a parkinson's sufferer making my street copy of Semi Pro look like Michael J Fox filmed it. Take pride in your work you little shits, i was buying postage stamp sized picture reels of The Lion King at the Getty station when you were still suckling off your mother's tear.
So yea, thumbs up to last.fm for a decent upgrade. Up yours to iLike for copying the idea. Go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.

Industry shamans predict that by 2012 digital music sales will pass Compact disc sales. And then earthquakes will rattle the land and the Mayan demiurges will rise from the ground and consume us all. Wait, i don't believe in that. There are several major players in the digital mp3 chess game. CDBaby and EMusic are for independent recordings and both deliver quality rips at good prices. EMusic allows a la carte track purchases (as well as DRM free) and somewhat of a better selection, giving them the slight advantage. I have had no problems with either service, would recommend them both.

Now to the major players.

Amazon mp3 versus iTunes. I really don't believe there's a contest here in terms of quality/service/ease of use, Amazon triumphs with its better quality rips for the same cost (256 kbps bitrate compared to iTunes' 128 kbps) and DRM free mp3s compared to iTunes's crapped m4a protect formats. Also, thanks to a huge viral advertising campaign with Pepsi, you can trade in pepsi points for free songs and compact discs. So don't throw out those caps, 5 of them'll get you that Los Del Rio track you've been craving to hear. 60 of them will get you the entire CD by Soulja Boy. Happy days are here again.
