Well I consider myself quite fortunate, to have seen three of my favorite bands in less than 2 months time! Yesterday on the 12th it was finally time to see Yes, an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968. YES! This band is generally regarded as one of the archetypal bands of the genre. Despite a great many lineup changes, occasional splits within the group and the ever-changing trends in popular music, the band has continued on for over forty years and still retains a large following, me encluded.

Dressed in my brand-new very cool Katatonia shirt, I stood only 2 meters from Jonas Renske and watched him and the rest of the band perform their live show. Ok, so maybe they are not the world's best live band, but it was so f-ing awesome to stand in front of them and watch them play :-)

I have many great albums. This is not a top 10 of most listened albums.
These albums below are either new, or just new to me, or they are old,
but what they have in common is that these are the albums on my mind
just now! I might mention some songs on every album, although i most
certainly like the entire album…

Porcupine Tree The Incident Mini-Review

Today I (Tarquin) attended the Porcupine Tree playback for the new album, The Incident. Located at a London studio, the 55 minute epic was played through high quality 5.1 DTS surround sound speakers, showing off the advanced mixing skills of SW, easily matching the sound experience of Deadwing.

It takes many, many listens to fully appreciate and notice all the subtleties of such a long song but even in a single session the unique Porcupine Tree sound was easily recognisable.

Pink Floyd manager, Steve O'Rourke, who lobbied to be included on one of the group's albums, appears at the end with Gilmour's stepson, Charlie, who hangs up a telephone on O'Rourke.

The beginning of "High Hopes" is reminiscent of another of his songs, "Fat Old Sun", from the Pink Floyd album Atom Heart Mother. Bells chime at the beginning of both pieces, for example.

The bird sounds and fly buzzing can also be traced back to "Grantchester Meadows", a song from the 1969 Pink Floyd album, Ummagumma, written by Roger Waters.
