If it weren't for Bruce's solo career, I wouldn't be able to list two 'Maiden' tracks without 'using the same artist twice'.

Tyranny of Souls is one of my favourite albums, and certainly one of my top 2005 albums… Possibly my #2 of 2005. I certainly prefer it to the two preceding Maiden albums, although I think a matter of life and death and the chemical wedding both edge it out. It certainly is close though.

This track is one of my favourites off the album. I regularly used to have my mp3 player on random, but start it off on this whenever I went on a journey of any description. For a brief period even simply going up or down the stairs I would have to have this blasting in my ears. Watching tv and an ad break comes on? I would reach straight for this track.

It certainly was my absolute favourite track ever for a little while. I rarely get so fully involved with a song any more. These days it just seems to last a week at most when I do become semi-obsessed with something. I'm not really sure whether that's representative of the quality of this track or if it merely just shows I'm buying a lot more music than I used to.

I've never been abducted, but I love the lyrics to this. Defiant yet scared, for some reason really appealed to me, and still does to some extent. Still, I don't think there was any point at which I was actually consciously thinking 'yes I like lyrics that are defiant yet scared'. Bruce and Roy Z were sounding perfect here, and for much of the album. I'll talk about the rest later though next time I pick something from this album.
