  • Fresh outta Pressing Plant: the Great Crusades - Keep Them Entertained

    6 Ago 2007, 15:45

    Hey Folks,
it's always great when a record production is through and the finished product finally arrives. Last week we received the new The Great Crusades' Album called "Keep Them Entertained"! And guess what? It rocks! In capital letters! Totally brings back the necessary refuelling!

Keep Them Entertained will be out August 31, but we want to give you a Sneak Preview of what awaits you! Therefore you can already listen to a couple of tracks from the album on the Great Crusades lastfm-outfit. Apart from that, the lads went on a night out in Chicago and came back with a music video that shows what the Crusades are all about: Booze, Fun, havin a good Time. Nothing wrong about that I guess. So, witness 'em doing what they can do best in their new video "Sex Sells (So I'll See You In Hell)".

The Great Crusades will hit the road directly after releasing Keep Them Entertained. They will tour Europe extensively in September!

  • Info on "The Declaration of Fuzz", originally released on Vinyl in 1986

    20 Jul 2007, 15:00

We can blame the internet for this one. A guy on the internet ripped and posted the Declaration Of Fuzz album a few months ago and since I have my vinyl stored away I actually downloaded our first full album release and burned it on CD.
And I was blown away! I had forgotten how wyld and powerful this music was, despite the cheap equipment it was played and recorded on. So we decided to give it the long-deserved CD-reissue and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of both it’s release and Glitterhouse Records (because this album is what really started it).
So here you have 20 garage/punk/psych-bands from all over the world, all of them active in the early 80s, but clearly living in an era of Beatle-boots, Moptops and Paisley shirts. Bands that were equally inspired by the British Invasion of the Pretty Things, Beatles and Rolling Stones and their American counterparts like The Sonics, Remains, Standells, Seeds etc. (see Lenny Kay`s Nuggets compilation). Bands that loved fuzz-guitars, distortion-boxes and creating mayhem in their garage.
And these bands again inspired another bunch of young musicians – Mudhoney and Nirvana for example (I kid you not, I asked them) – and quite a few of those The-bands that are (or have been?) fashionable lately.
Crank it up and shake your body! And thanks for having us all these years.
(Reinhard Holstein. Chief of Glitterhouse Records)
