Vielen Dank!

Actually there is a problem with what you're asking. Popular music in India has always been film-music and album always remained an alien concept. So don't think in terms of albums, think in terms of soundtracks. Look for soundtracks of movies for which Shankar-Jaikishan worked. Then search for that soundtrack. Most people, except film buffs, recognize Indian film music not by music director/composer but by singer and movie. I know this sounds weird to anyone who is not acquainted with Indian movie culture, but that's the way it is. Look for movie soundtracks in some Indian/desi forums/sites. As far as online music stores are concerned, India is still far behind west in terms of providing online alternative. Here are the movies http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1090097/

Donald Byrd is great, I noticed you've been listening to his music. You should listen also these albums: Street Lady, Ethiopian Knights, Kofi and A New Perspective. Lansana's Princess from Street Lady is amazing :)

Yep, that's a good version but I still prefer the one that's on Boxer. Those trumpets in the end are just too good :) At least one of my favourite albums at the moment is Emilia Torrini's Me and Armani, great morning listening at least. The Raconteurs latest album has also made a great impression to me in the last couple of days.

Oh, I just learned that Kater means tom cat :D So my mistake.. I took that phrase from Einstürzende Neubautens song title.

You're most played tracks are fantastic, my favourite tracks too, Strychnine, This Time Tomorrow, I'm Only Sleeping, Fake Empire and Forty days! I think one of the best songs from Brubeck is also from Time In -LP, Softly, William, Softly. Desmonds sax in that piece is incredible. Have you listened to Desmonds solo albums? Take Ten with Jim Hall is great and also other records from the same period.. PS. I'm afraid the cats name would be then Ms. Thomas Crown :D I should see that film, haven't seen it before. By the way, if you have Spotify, track down a band called Stance Brothers and play a track called Steve McQueen, it's great. Quite McQueenish indeed it is: cool.

Conóceme

update my seen-live-list | get your own list

I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, i just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords

I saw a film today oh, boy
The english army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But i just had to look
Having read the book
I love to turn you on.

Woke up, got out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, i noticed i was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and i went into a dream

I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in blackburn, lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albert hall
I'd love to turn you on
