FatCat began life in 1990 as a tiny independant record shop in London and rapidly grew to gain a strong reputation as one of the country's finest outlets for electronic music. In 1997 the shop was forced to close and FatCat records became Active. Our current roster includes: Amandine, Animal Collective, Aoki Takamasa & Tujiko Noriko, Blood On The Wall, Charlottefield, Crescent, David Grubbs, David Karsten Daniels, Drowsey, Ensemble, Frightened Rabbit, Giddy motors, Hauschka, Max Richter, Mice Parade, Múm, Nina Nastasia, No Age, Our Brother The Native, Panda Bear, Semiconductor, Silje Nes, Songs Of Green Pheasant, The Rank Deluxe, The Twilight Sad, Tom Brosseau, Vashti Bunyan, Vetiver and Welcome. Since its inception, the label has also grown to incorporate a number of imprints and parallel projects, including the Split Series (an ever-evolving, self-contained 12" series that pits different sounds, styles and artists against one another), and the new 7" series (an irregular series of more guitar-based material, and another space to showcase new artists).
