That's cool! Reminds me of some of the Yngwie Malmsteen stuff with the crazy soloing. Did you end up finding that Naivety in Black song on youTube, really cool song I have to say...

Strange how you like the second half of the QoTSA album while I prefer the first half. Not sure why that is. Kalopsia didn't do anything for me and either Fairweather Friends or Smooth Sailing sounds like a reject from the Them Crooked Vultures album. Overall though it's not bad. Lots of talk on here about the new Sabbath - what did you think ?

Yeah, it's from Best Buy, my coworker went out and bought it yesterday. It has the extra track Naivete in Black. Just going back through a second time can't remember what it sounded like. Have you checked out any of Ozzy's solo albums?

It's the full deluxe, it came with four bonus tracks.

I've listened to the new QoTSA album about 4 times and it's OK IMO. I like about half of it. The first 5 tracks are great but then it seems to lose something for me then I like the final track. Overall it's not bad and I'll probably listen to it again but it's not one of my favourite albums so far this year. I'm not a Thrash metal fan but I gave the new Megadeth album a try and it's what I expected. Couple of good tracks but overall not my thing. I did like the Thin Lizzy cover though.

I quite liked the Megadeth one. Some tracks sound really good but I think there are a few weak ones in there too. I don't think I was really in the mood for Ozzy tonight so I didn't actually get through the whole of Sabbath's album. It sounds okay but I'll revisit it over the next few days.

Yeah it's okay actually. I wasn't sure about the title track when I heard it a while back but it sounds good. I've got Sabbath lined up shortly.

Have you heard of Heaven & Hell's The Devil You Know? It was the reunion of the Mob Rules line up from a few years ago. I'm curious to hear what it sounds like compared to that album. Seems like the reviews on the new one have been mostly positive from what I've seen so far.

Hopefully I'll get a copy of it today, how is it?

I suppose we can make an exception for Sabbath :) New one comes out tomorrow!

Lanegan's solo stuff is pretty good too. The only one I own is Bubblegum. I listened to it again a few days ago actually. I think you'd probably like it. Might be worth checking out.

I love how Homme can still collaborate with so many musicians and still make such a cohesive sounding album. He's got Dave Grohl, Nick Olivera, Mark Lanegan, Trent Reznor and Elton John all on Fairweather Friends!

It's great isn't it? Those are both great tracks. I my favourite is I Appear Missing, I love that extended version after hearing the 3 minute version a few times. I love the title track and Sat by the Ocean. Fairweather Friends is great too. Gotta love Mark Lanegan.

Yeah there is plenty of good Johnny Cash stuff, he recorded so much though. I just have a double disc compilation for Howlin' Wolf called 'Evil'. Smokestack Lightnin' is one of his most famous songs but it was the one that made me want to hear more. It might worth checking it out.

How is Shakey going now? How far into it are you? I think it was the American albums that first made me pay attention to Johnny Cash. He did a good job of reinvigorating his career in thoser final years and he made some of his best ever stuff during that period. Oh yeah I have a Seasick Steve album. I saw him live a couple of times, he's a funny guy. Lead Belly is really raw sounding blues to me, it's crazy how primitive it was back then but still quite compelling. I still need to listen to more of that stuff. Have you listened to Howlin' Wolf? He's probably my favourite blues musician so far.

Dude, you had me going for a minute there... I misread your shout and thought that you had heard the new PJ album.... then I realised that you'd heard the album was going to be Pink Floyd-ish. Phew... Anyway Pearl Jam meets Pink Floyd sounds like fun. Sort of Seattle Grunge British Prog Rock... hmmm. Have a great weekend.
