Cool hope you had a good summer. The only Crazy Horse I have is the self titled. Haven't listened to that one much lately either actually. Cool I'll check that one out.

The code that you compile in .Net falls under managed code which takes care of garbage collection, if you're doing something outside of that framework then you have to worry about memory management. Here's something I found on Stackoverflow regarding managed and unmanaged code: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3563870/difference-between-managed-and-unmanaged

Hey! Fil's back. Hows it going? What's that Crazy Horse that you had on?

I've been doing VB programming pretty much since I got out of school in 2004. I've touched some different ones like C#, ruby, perl and some other stuff but primarily I do vb. Once you know one language it's pretty easy to switch to another one as the concepts are always the same.

.Net is the IDE, kind of like Eclipse is for java if you used that one. ASP is just one type of project you can do in .Net. I do application development which is tailored to running on a computer and ASP is a web based application. C# is similar to java and in fact I think Microsoft got sued for basically stealing the language. For the most part the syntax is pretty much the same and plus .Net will handle all the basics, you just have to figure out how to make your logic work.

Sounds like fun, is this for a school project? I like using .Net, it's a really powerful tool once you get familiar with it. I don't do C# but I do work with VB all the time.

Yes! I love it! I've been spinning it since it came out, probably the best thing they've put out since Crack The Skye.

Having a job is definitely a good thing :) Sucks about the jaw alignment thing sounds painful! I think my wife had that happen to her a couple years ago but eventually it just went back to normal. Summer has been pretty fun so far, did a couple of camping trips and I've been out running quite a bit as I have a half marathon I'm getting ready for in the fall. What kind of things are keeping you busy these days? Still playing guitar?

Summer hasn't really begun here, its been raining for a week...although that kinda is English summer lol. Yeah I did a Zappathon (or Zap-Fest). He is a genius but not all his stuff is too palatable. Must be one of the toughest artists there is to 'get' into.

Ah no problem. Hope you're enjoying yourself and its not all work. Yeah I like it way more than I thought I was going to. It's inspired me to revisit stuff like Bert Jansch and Phil Ochs too which is good. Good ol' Shakey eh.

Hey FIL. Not sure if you're still about but I'm digging that new Neil Young! It's awesome in a Neil Young kind of way haha.

Ah I just checked and its not out here until the end of May. I'll hold tight on that one then.

  • Kdo_Kenoute

Cool. Yeah I noticed it was a covers album. Americana was covers too wasn't it? Although they were mainly traditional songs. Did you buy it? I notice its not on Spotify here. I might pick it up.

Hows that Neil Young one? I'm seeing some bad reviews on the its shoutbox.

It started out fantastic, but then I started to fall asleep. I probably need to try again.

Have you seen/heard the new Alice in Chains? Well, new as in last year I guess. The cd case is wickedly cool! It's like it's own see thru red which I thought was really unique. Not sure about the music yet... I'm trying it now.

I didn't know about that Neil Young album. Sounds interesting.

Cool. If you venture even further back Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon's frontman) started off in Red House Painters. Down Colorful Hill and Rollercoaster are worth checking out. A warning on that one though, Rollercoaster is a v long album. He can be hard work at times, he recorded a whole album of acoustic versions of AC/DC songs under his own name (Mark Kozelek), but is worth it once you (if you) get into him.

    Marzo 2014
  • Kdo_Kenoute

Hey. Cool what did you think of the album? Ghosts of the Great Highway is another good one to check out. Also Tiny Cities. It's an album of Modest Mouse covers but I like it. Quite short too. Mark Kozelek has a habit of making quite long albums.

Dude - I've checked Spotify in the UK and Sons of the Sea isn't on there. Do you want to choose something else or stick with it ?

I see you've listened to Nebraska previously. Okay in that case have you hear Greetings From Asbury Park? Pretty much all of those early ones are worth hearing really.

  • Kdo_Kenoute

Hey there! Plenty of Bruce going on around here. How are you finding him? Have you listened to Nebraska yet? That might be my favourite one. Although I often change my mind on that. I think Adam Raised A Cain is Bruces heaviest tune. Although I think some tracks from Wrecking Ball might come close.

  • tlukes123

Cool, I need to pick that one up still, have to complete the collection!

    Febrero 2014
  • tlukes123

I don't think so, I think that one is really Bruce at his angriest. Maybe Radio Nowhere but not on the same level as Adam Raised a Cain.

    Febrero 2014
  • tlukes123

Darkness is classic Bruce for sure, if you can check out the Promise as well. That one has the songs that hit the cutting room floor from those sessions. He has a ton of material that never made it to a proper album. I've got a box set called Tracks that has some of that material and is really amazing to think that it's the left overs.

  • tlukes123

Looks like lots of good Springsteen over here! You should check out the Seeger Sessions at some point, that's the last hole in my collection and it's definitely worth checking out. Have you heard Torche yet? Listening to Harmonicraft for the first time, really good. Kind of similar to Baroness.
