Thanks for the recommendations! I gotta take the time to check them all out (so much new music to listen to...it's almost impossible to discover everything :D)

The Doors, that's a good start you can be proud of. I discovered them when I was around 15....and I already knew I had absolutely no like-minded people...(pre-Internet times :D). Thank god now for the Internet and last fm :)

Haha...no, Billy Idol is great. He was the first artist I really liked as a child and I still like the music, even though it doesn't fit to the rest of my taste. So it's something nostalgic that I'm not ashamed of. He released a great electronic experimental album, Cyberpunk, which I dearly love. After that album, lots of the usual mainstream fans turned their backs on him...it's not everyone's cup of tea. But in the end, thank god I stranded on the Psychedelia shore :D

Yes, the first two albums are very special and quite different to their newer stuff...but I also like the "lighter" psych stuff...depends on my mood :)

I see the Black Angels on the first place in your charts. Did you already see the new music video for "You're Mine"? How do you like the new album? The newer albums are quite different than the old ones...

Yeah, I knew that your is higher but...there's always room for improvement in life :) Shatner's album "Has Been" was quite good with a few enjoyable tracks (maybe you could try "Together"), but the later one I didn't even listen because it made a rather embarrassing impression... There's also this other track which is surprisingly experimental electronic track he did togehter with Lemon Jelly called "64 aka Go". But you have to like spoken word at least a little bit, otherwise you won't enjoy it at all...

Thanks a lot! :) Cool that you liked it! Sorry, I deleted my entry in your shoutbox after I read your description again where it says that you DON'T listen to William Shatner (I read to fast the first time ;)). Well, at least it makes my taste more eclectic. ;)..it's 76 by the way.

Ha well I never bothered to really see who else was playing Camden Crawl. Didn't know the Lemonheads still made music! Well it's likely you'd have a better chance catching BSP in your neck of the woods someday anyway. They really are good live. I suppose the Lemonheads probably put on a good show as well.

Ladybug have a new record coming out. Read through Merge, but apparently the word's been out for a while. Seemingly out of no where, as I was searching for new stuff after our conversation about them, now it's all over the place. Just thought I'd mention it...

Ahhh. Thank you. I am especially glad when someone recognizes who the picture really is of.

I'll bet BJM was epic. I've seen videos of them performing live, and it was pretty cool. And I'd like to see MBV if they're still touring.

Damn, that sounds like an epic show. The only concerts I've been to are Weird Al and the Norcal Noisefest, but both were pretty epic. Especially Norcal Noisefest.

I'm envious. I was pretty close to seeing GY!BE a few months back, but I no one willing to drive me to San Fransisco. Are they good live?

Yeah, just recently discovered Asteroid. I absolutely 'love' a handful of High Dials songs, mostly their early stuff. I've only recently listened to bits of their latest. But I might have to revisit some of JAMC. Surprisingly I haven't sought much of BJM out. Thanks for the tip.

A friend on here recommended the Black Angels a couple months back. I like a few songs, but they might be an acquired taste, for me. Wow, I'd guess a year in Melby's better than a short visit! Maybe you"ve seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=PxZiae16Ry8 you'll either laugh or cringe, or both.

It'd be nice to have the entire 33 1/3 collection even if they didn't all suit my taste. Yes, self-confessed, and if there was the Australian equivalent--I'm really enjoying the music scene there atm, especially from Melbourne. You've just about got the whole E6 thing covered, although I never thought Ladybug Transistor were truly part of that collective, sonically anyway. Hm, I might have to give this Phantom Vibration a try.

Conóceme

I suppose I have eclectic taste, enjoying music as diverse as motown to shoegazer type stuff, from a bit of electropop to post rock... but who doesn't have eclectic taste? And genres are just words and labels. I dunno. I like music. Except rap, dance and country, and screamy stuff. and the work of William Shatner. Mostly "neo-psych" and indie pop though.

Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. You can compute your own score at http://anthony.liekens.net/pub/scripts/last.fm/eclectic.php

My eclectic score is currently

87/100
