Saw Chris Flatline at a club in Hackney last month and got massively into Com Truise. Galactic Melt has some mega tunes on it, VHS Sex and Brokendate are brilliant. Also, this remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3ATKpnL_p8

What's good? My top favourites at the moment are Slow Down VIP / Skip Rope which was out on promo this week and The Licence (Remixes by Break and Serial Killaz) – the original being by Krome & Time. Mystic Sunset / Yellow Shoes by S.P.Y & Marky just dropped (finally), and J.Majik & Wickaman have just put out Ritual / Old Headz on Metalheadz. Also, Audio has a new EP out called 'The Journey Pt 2'. I had the pleasure of hearing Break play in room 2 of Fabric on Friday, he rinsed the sound system with Slow Down. The next proper gig I'm going to is Congo Natty at the Brixton Jamm w/ Top Cat, Tenor Fly, Serial Killaz, Daddy Freddy, etc. They put on a great show, I lost my voice last time I saw them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GepH1xKzTr0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwV8fibX4o4 What's new in the electro scene?

I wasn't before today. I just listened to a few of his tunes and I really like them. Very funky.

Of course! I've got Waves I & II on CD somewhere and a couple of the single on vinyl. That whole label was wicked. Santa Claus / Holiday On Ice was my favourite single from them, and Carnaval by Archigram is sublime.

Both are big tunes. You can't go wrong with Noisia, every track of theirs is quality. BSE are great producers too.

I'm glad to hear it! I love the more junglistic side of VSnares, and breakcore in general, although I wasn't sure whether he was going to come back with something better than Detrimentalist or just a duplicate. You've put my mind to rest, I think I'll go out and buy it in a few weeks (I'm skint at the mo). I heard Audio's new album today, it was good but Virus records still hasn't moved forward since 1996. It's the same old techstep sound. Check out 'Collision' and 'Abyss', they're great. Also, I had a listen to 'Boomshakalaka' by DJ Donna Summer. It was pretty catchy, I liked it.

Hardstyle—big in Europe (of course)! Europeans, especially the eastern ones, thrive on hard dance music. As you know I like it, nothing knocks the thorax like a hardstyle bass beat. It's like a weird craving, every once in a while I find I must listen to some, I binge on it for a week or so and then leave it for a few months. It's fun and I like dance associated with it (jumpstyle, I believe) but much like hard trance, in the club where it's played very loudly (probably illegally so in Mother Russia, bless 'em) the tracks aren't discernible enough to keep the mix interesting. I find I can only take an hour or so before tedium sets in, although having said that wearing noise attenuators and/or stuffing one's face with pills would probably keep the set interesting. I've never heard a set done by a top hardstyle DJ though and in Europe they play at outdoor festivals too where the beat doesn't engulf the rest of the track. Btw, have you heard Venetian Snares' new album?
