It's around one year since I first heard the sound of Blues Pills and was instantly hooked, but with their activities focused around northern and central Europe there seemed to be little sign of them pitching up anywhere where I might be able to see them perform so it was with great joy that I heard they would be supporting Scorpion Child at the most unlikely venue of Queens Hall in Nuneaton, but a short drive from home.

The audience was quite literally warmed up by Leddra Chapman, a young English singer songwriter, and her cracking troupe of talented young male musicians. Leddra has a genuine stage presence and a pure, effortless voice. An ear to ear smile creases her face regularly and makes a connection with an intimate audience though she may need to toughen up the little girl movements in stepping up to the larger live audiences which will surely come. Sun 27 Sep – Kelly Joe Phelps
An audience of just 75 people made for an intimate liaison with this contemporary great white bluesman. If I sound like a long time admirer then that's misleading as it's only thanks to LastFM that I stumbled across KJP just a few weeks ago, checked out a little more, noticed the On Tour slogan, noticed he was playing Birmingham, and decided to go along on this Sunday night.
A little research beforehand and familiarising myself with some of his songs from LastFM was helpful and made me appreciate he has a formidable reputation…
