The Barbican Presents : Canadian Blast

The Barbican and the Canadian Independent Music Association present Canadian Blast, a celebration of contemporary Canadian sound and vision on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011. As part of their Blaze Summer Concert Series, The Barbican plays host to a day’s worth of cutting edge and critically acclaimed Canadian musicians and filmmakers. In the main hall, The Hidden Cameras will headline the main performance with their only London show on the summer, Woodpigeon plus a full band (his only London show as well) and Devon Sproule who will be joined on the day by Mantler, Sandro Perri and Ryan Driver.

In the run up to the main event, the Foyer will play host to a series of free shows featuring former Spirit of the West member Linda McRae, and solo performances from Mantler, Sandro Perri and Ryan Driver. At 5PM,Chilly Gonzales’ critically acclaimed feature film, Ivory Tower, will be shown for free in the main hall. The film features Tiga, Feist and Peaches.
The evening is curated and presented by Canadian Blast, the international showcasing brand of CIMA, the Canadian Independent Music Association. Canadian Blast is dedicated to showcasing the best Canadian talent in Europe from its headquarters in London. The day is the second of two days celebrating Canadian music, following on from the annual Canada Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square on July 1st. Together these events represent the largest Canada Day Celebrations outside of Canada.
