DUDE, 3 shows and we both missed out on all of them? How does that even happen? Do they announce it secretly, or what? I wonder if they're really popular here.

Fuck man, I can't believe I didn't hear about the two Purity Ring shows sooner, sucks they've both already sold out. And now I realize that their supporting act, Blue Hawaii, released an awesome album this year as well. Waaaahhh.

You have a What.CD account? Lucky bastard. I've failed their stupid test twice, I know I'm never going to personally upload a new album there, so I don't understand why I need to know so much information. Anyhoo, I'd check it out, I wouldn't say it's as good as Kindred but there are some great cuts on it.

What do you think of the new Burial EP?

Yeah, that was my first time catching them. I only had a vague idea of what to expect, and I'd say they delivered. And then some. I'm in the same boat as you; really grateful for anything and everything they threw at us. Glacial Pace was indeed very rad in a live setting, no doubt. // I feel you. I was a little taken aback at how steep the price-tag was on that Horkey print, but it had to be done. (And it's no surprise to see them fetching $250+ on eBay already.) Nice grab with the cassette. A pretty convenient coincidence that it debuted at our show -- it sounds like there's a pretty good demand for it already.

Nice. I'm really glad to hear it. I stuck back just enough to get an unobstructed view of the band, while also avoiding any divers. It worked for me. I was thoroughly impressed by the stage presence of Bannon and Koller; so much energy, and they appeared to be having such a great time. Nate's backing vocals were as earth-shattering as I assumed them to be, and I was nothing short of enthralled by the technicality of Kurt's playing style. All in all; very awesome. The setlist was pretty ace, too, in my opinion. How'd you feel about the opening acts? Were Kvelertak all you hoped they'd be? And did you snag any merch? I had to cave on that Horkey print.

Also, as much as I'm ashamed to admit it, I just last week discovered the glory that is Deathconsciousness. I think I'm in love.

What's interesting is that I do quite enjoy those sludgier songs by themselves... but in context of the whole album, I guess I feel as though they slam the brakes on. The first four tracks are just relentless - I don't think that can be denied. But Worms Will Feed just suffocates all the momentum, then and there... even though it's a stellar song. That aspect makes the whole album feel like a jerky roller coaster with a questionably built track, instead of a smooth and unforgiving plunge. To me anyway. // It's definitely no Cosmogramma Deux. But I say that with the best regards, still. I won't spoil it for you... but I'll just say that it's silkier, darker, and more chill than anything he's done. Approach it with an open mind and you won't walk away disappointed. // Of course you do; you know what's up. I can't explain the appeal of Purity Ring, to me. Or at least Shrines. I can acknowledge what it does right in my books, but it's somehow hooked me so far beyond that.

I get where you're coming from. To me, that record is definitely more of a thrill-ride than a cohesive album with unified vibes. I suppose that can be attributed to the bevy of guest artists and the overall pace of the record. [The sludgier tracks definitely slow things to a crawl.] So in that sense, I absolutely agree that AWLWLB is more in the vein of JD or YFM. For certain. // What are your thoughts on the new Flying Lotus?

I think I just have a phobia of kicking myself somewhere down the road, or helplessly watching desirable items explode on eBay. But either way - there's definite pros and cons to both of our approaches. // Nice. I'm sure you caught mention that ~90% of those deluxe books are sold out. I'm glad to hear you secured one. I'm hearing that they're pretty small, albeit incredibly well done. Very eager for mine to show up as well. // You weren't crazy about ATF when it was released? That surprises me. If not solely because AWL feels like such a natural progression and maturation from it. More-so than any of their other albums, in my opinion.

I could probably benefit from adapting your apprehensive attitude with pre-orders. But they seem to be the nature of the beast in this day and age. And of the countless premature purchases I've made, I think I've may regretted two or three albums, tops. Which I had no problem selling. I guess my mentality is along the lines of "better safe than sorry"... though it's very easy for that to backfire. Usually "favorite" bands are a pretty safe bet, however. // Totally. My first listen was good, though a lot of it did blur together. But that's been the case with every Converge album I can think of. I think I've done five plays now, and it's getting to that magical point where each and every track takes on its own shape and memorable characteristics. I think AWLWLB may end up being among my favorite records of theirs.

I went a little overboard with pre-order options. Ended up going with a standard and deluxe LP, along with the deluxe CD / art book. No regrets. Especially since the album turned out phenomenally, in my opinion. It's still hitting me hard, but I really couldn't be happier with it, I think. It sounds like a natural progression from ATF that also incorporates bits and pieces of their back catalog -- really digging it. More and more with each listen, actually. How about your own thoughts?

I hear you. I was hoping for a tour edition for our upcoming show, but that doesn't look probable either. Word on the street is that their plant of choice is backed up in production. Specifically, with a new Beatles boxset mass-press. Beatles. It's always The Beatles.

The AWLWLB LP is indeed delayed. There's not even an estimated completion or ship date, at this point. Bit of a bummer.

No te gusta Coexist? I really like it. Don't you feel like it was Burial-influenced on a few of the tracks?
