that was supposed to be burnt weenie sandwich. oops. but, yes, i like to lend my "expertise" when i can. you may already listen to captain beefheart, i didn't check, but if not, you should. "clear spot."

i like hot rats, but hot weenie sandwich seems to be the general consensus for his first really well done instrumental album. roxy & elsewhere is a really great live album for technicality. it's hard to judge frank song by song because his albums are also intricately woven together.

"apostrophe" is pretty standard in his canon--i'd start there. if you want more, more, more get "overnite sensation" (personal favorite), "lumpy gravy," and "uncle meat." all his music is pretty great, but some of it's psychedelic jam band ten minute guitar riffs--the ones i listed are more lyrically driven (still heavy on guitar though, duh) happy zappin'!

I read your comment regarding Ineffable Mysteries. I agree with all your points, but not living up to Nothing Lasts doesn't prevent the new album from being some of the best music around. I also must say your music taste might just be the most awesome thing after Shpongle.

Hey Casey, My classical stuff is here on last.fm and at my website www.benrichtermusic.com. As for the rock stuff, I have a big new CD coming out later this summer, probably August/September. I will make sure to let you know about it! Also, I share your love for Clint Mansell's "The Fountain" soundtrack, and, presumably, the film itself.

Yes indeed! Ah There Will Be Blood. Amazing. Yeah we cannot compare tastes quite yet cause I cleared out my music and then my computer crashed and haven't listened to music yet.
