Finally watched that Fleet Foxes vid, pretty cool stuff. They seem like decent guys. Now I'm in the mood to listen to them!

I'll be interested to hear what you think of it. Oh, and if you're willing to put in a half hour to an hour *every* day for the next six to nine months, you can probably learn to play piano reasonably well. It's all in forcing the muscle memory.

Yeah, The New Standard is mostly (entirely?) a cover set: Norwegian Wood, Scarborough Fair, Mercy Street. I just got his (Grammy-winning) Joni cover set, too. I've loved his stuff since I started playing jazz piano in high school; I just never got around to purchasing his original stuff (Chick Corea always wins out!).

Soooooo good. They were even better live than I was expecting. Tickets were only $17, I would have easily paid twice that for that show. I took a friend who had never even heard of them, and he ended up buying an album after the show.

You don't have to see any advertising on the site, and can see who's visited your page. Back in the day, it also used to give you the exclusive option of being able to see what your friends were listening to without going to their page, but they gave that to everyone. As it's not really much bang for the buck any more, I'm not sure when or if I'll re-subscribe.

Ah, my subscription ran out, and I haven't resubscribed. A lot of the benefits you used to get as a subscriber were given to general members, so I'm not sure if I'll resubscribe or not. We'll see.

Ahh, I haven't heard that yet, but I look forward to hearing it. Glad to hear it's like Strawberry.

Is that the upcoming AC EP?

    1 May 2008 Responder

Haha I know, really looking forward to it! Maybe even two days in a row, because he'll be performing the 16th, AND the 17th somewhere else in the neighbourhood. So yeah, I'm pretty lucky ;)

Hmm, you might like the Fleet Foxes' EP, 'Sun Giant'. It was just released in stores today. They're kind of like a mix between Midlake, My Morning Jacket, and Band of Horses. They have a full length album out later this year.

Yeah I got the Burial CD the very end of last year. For some reason I was disappointed with it at first and preferred the debut. I've warmed up to it though. The REM album isn't great, but it's far and away better than most anything else they've done in the last decade or so. It's fun for what it is.

Your devotion to Okkervil River caught my attention. Kudos.
