Quick review of some free demo CDs I got a while ago at Hot Topic

I got these sometime in 2009 from Hot Topic.

By Any Means Necessary - unnamed demo album with three tracks: The Dischord of War, Charlatan, and Erase the Plague. The three songs all sound kind of similar, all thrash metal with slightly screamy vocals. I couldn't listen to the entire thing, and I'm usually a huge metalhead.

From the cover art (some sort of bat-snake chimera), I thought Strange Music's promo disc "We Got This '09" was another metal album, but it's hip-hop. Tech N9ne's "Let Me In" is pretty good. Krizz Kaliko's "Back Pack" is a bit generic and reminded me of Mixalot's "I like big butts". Big Scoob's "D-Boy" is a little better but still not great. Prozak's album name, "The Hitchcock of Hip Hop" intrigued me and his song "The World is a Slave" did not disappoint. Good beats and good lyrics to boot. "Vertigo" has some piano in it, and I was surprised by some female vocals; very interesting. "American Princess" is also good.

Carrie Solomon's untitled album - This is a homemade disc with the artist name and myspace URL written on it with marker, but the music sounds pretty professional. There are three tracks and they have no names other than "Track #".
