Greetings, and welcome to my Last.fm profile.

My name is Evyn. I'm a 22 year old androgyne anthropomorphic-obsessed artist and graphic design student focusing on 3D modeling and animation. I also play a couple instruments as a hobby.

If you take a good look at my music taste, I feel it more resembles multiple people's libraries mashed together than one universal commonality or genre tag; a kind of violent collision of the weird and esoteric. I therefore listen to any music that interests or amuses me, and although this usually falls somewhere in the experimental, anachronistic, and/or atmospheric umbrella genre, there is too much variation to give a definitive description of my interests. I do, however, tend to gravitate toward music that presents a consistent theme or concept that stands out from the crowd, and is tightly conceptualized and well designed.

I am a Secular Humanist and an Existentialist at heart. I am also passionate about Transhumanism.

I am also a very friendly person, so feel free to drop me a line whenever. I love meeting new people.

Concerning Names -

The name Artificial Leech is fitting because it is, by nature, an eidetic chameleon. Calling to mind a robotic creature, it evokes an air of sophistication and technology that goes far beyond our own time's jerky automata, and yet is squandered on replicating a creature seemingly so reviled by it's hosts as that hapless parasitic worm. It is, aesthetically, simultaneously refined and rough, organic and mechanical... A dichotomy of taste; both states bringing out the best in their partner through conflict. As a result it fits my musical taste quite well.

The Artificial Leech itself was a Victorian-Era medical tool that at the time represented the heights of their sciences. As bloodletting was the remedy of choice for the time, the Artificial Leech, a precursor of the modern syringe, was invented to make the process much less... icky. Although the intent was good and the technology sound, the science was, needless to say, lacking, as whatever marginal actual value the living Leeches had as a painkiller was negated by their cold, metallic replacement, which caused only harm by depleting the immune system and spreading infection thanks to lack of sterilization. High-minded though they were, the doctors who used this technology were harming their patients with the very device that promised to cure them.

To me this seems an appropriate metaphor for... well, a great many things.
