En el 2008 Zomby, junto a otros productores como Darkstar, Ikonika, Starkey, Rustie e incluso FLying Lotus, lideró algo que se puede entender como una evolución del dubstep, quizás porque el sello Hyperdub capitalizó buena parte de los mejores singles de este recién nacido género, bautizado como wonky y definido por Martin Clark como un cruce entre hip hop, hyphy, grime, chip tunes, dubstep, crunk y electro, y caracterizado por sonidos burbujeantes y sintetizadores de colores chillones -entre otras muchas cosas-, con los que se pasa de la primacía de los graves en el dubstep a un interés por rellenar de movimiento la zona de los medios.
Zomby esconde su verdadera identidad bajo el anonimato, ha editado en Hyperdub y ha hecho un disco a partir de su fascinación por los sonidos característicos del jungle.
