Isn’t it wonderful how sometimes you discover the most precious things in life completely by accident? I honestly believe that my life wouldn’t be as beautiful today if it weren’t for the soundtrack to Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain by the brilliant Yann Tiersen. I think it’s a rather charming of how I stumbled onto it, actually. So I’d thought I’d share.

It was at my local library, I was dropped off inevitably for “studying” purposes; but I usually ended up gorging myself on anything but – books, magazines, and the internet. I went to the library often – there weren’t many places my parents would allow me to go off by myself. A bit embarrassingly, this library has come to become sort of a sanctuary for me; I was always able to go there to get away from life, it was quiet and peaceful; always something to entertain myself with. Now, being away at college, I rarely go back there anymore, but when I do, it’s always a little exciting. …

This Heart Is a Stone by the Acid House Kings

One of the many groups that my close friend Sam introduced me to over the past few years. This is potentially my favorite song of theirs and has some very clever play-on-words lyrics that make me smile every time. The Acid House Kings are clearly a twee pop band from Sweden but they sing in English. They’re fun to dance to and easy to sing along with and if you like twee pop, you’ve gotta try listening to this song!
