Indeed, check it out yourself, you may like it. But you may as well be disappointed, just as I was. I truly wanted it to be great - but it just failed to be. Though, it's only my personal opinion - and you may think the contrary, yes. So, if you like it - lucky of you. I'll just stick to Bathory and Agalloch.
Since I'm a great fan of long, epic tracks and pagan/folky influences, this shit should have forced me to wet my pants. But sadly, the only thing epic here is the epic fail this album is, especially in comparison with other hour-long masterpieces like Moonsorrow's Varjojen Virta/Tuleen Ajettu Maa or my personal favourite, Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness by Green Carnation. The guitars are horribly over-reverbed, depriving them of any power, the riffs are repeated ad nauseam, the keyboards sound even worse than in Summoning, lyrics are some generic pagan crap (srsly, Twilight of the Gods-era Bathory has good pagan lyrics - this thing doesn't), and the vocalist sounds deeply uninspired, as if crucifying priests was the most boring thing ever, except maybe mopping the floor. Such a great idea, and mutilated so horribly!
