An out-and-out triumph of both pop songcraft and pure nastiness. It's not a coincidence that this is the longest of the numbers on this album that isn't one of the slow, dirgey ones that are there for pacing. With a straight-up pop song like this, forty-five to ninety seconds isn't going to cut it. The pop sweetness is laced with irony (all those la la la's towards the end, which are still catchy) and some unnerving lyrics, however. Brittle and cruel, the song is driven by contempt ("you don't interest me / not even curiosity") rather than anger at its object (this song doesn't have a subject--it's sung AT someone rather than ABOUT something), making it colder and more brutal than your typical kiss-off tune.
