Willard Christopher Smith, Jr. (n. 25 de septiembre de 1968) es un rapero y actor de cine y televisión estadounidense. Segundo de cuatro hermanos, nació en Filadelfia, en el estado de Pennsylvania.
Biografía
Will Smith inició su carrera rapeando en el dúo de pop-rap DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, creando temas humorísticos aptos para la radio comercial, como «Parents Just Don’t Understand». Trasladaron el mismo espíritu humorístico a sus vídeo-clips, en los que Smith, El príncipe del Rap, mostró su carisma y vis cómica. En 1990 la cadena de televisión NBC lo contrató y montó una comedia de situación en torno a él, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (El príncipe de Bel-Air, en España y El príncipe del rap en Latinoamérica). En ella, interpreta a un personaje llamado también Will Smith, y también interesado en el rap. Su compañero Jazzy Jeff, tuvo apariciones menores en muchos de los episodios, con el personaje de Jazz. Otras figuras conocidas participaron como invitados especiales, entre ellos artistas de hip hop como Heavy D and the Boyz y Queen Latifah (que interpretó a dos personajes diferentes).
Smith comenzó una exitosa carrera en el cine de Hollywood con la película policíaca Bad Boys (1995), cuyo rodaje pudo compaginar con el de televisión. Cuando la serie The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air acabó en 1996, Smith empezó su carrera musical como solista y siguió en películas, interpretando además temas musicales para varias de ellas.
