I enjoy this album more during the Summer for some reason

Best album of their career, twinned with Pinkerton. Confident, emotional power pop at its best. They had such a great sound during this era.... Certainly a top 10 album in the definition of my adolescence.

People would like this album more if they allowed themselves to, rather than abided by some unnecessary music taste ethic. [2]

People would like this album more if they allowed themselves to, rather than abided by some unnecessary music taste ethic. This album is fantastic, and alternative power-pop at its finest.

This album really grew on me. It's not as angst filled as pinkerton, or any better than blue, but I appreciate the effort into the album. Things feel... Light and bubbly in this album. Except for hash pipe, but that song is alright too.

Mixed feelings on this album, it is very cookie cutter in the songwriting, but the album is also full of solid pop songs...the song structures are basically the same throughout, and the vocal melody guitar solos do lose their charm when used on most of the songs. But it's a solid pop record and when not listening to it all the way through the songs are definitely all enjoyable

It's actually a pretty good album, it's just not what they SHOULD have done after Pinkerton.

My personal favourite Weezer album. Hash Pipe sticks out like a sore thumb, but the rest is pure pop perfection.

personally speaking, i wasn't old enough when the first records came out, so i guess this is the one where i actually have some memories of. it's not my favorite, but i play it more than the others. but pinkerton is on another level of brilliance.

this was my first weezer-cd :D and it's fucking awesome imo, but there's like, so many b-sides n shit from this album that's better than most of the songs on the album.

RIP Mikey Welsh [6] I think this album gets way too much hate. It's not as good as Blue or Pinkerton, but I think it's a great, fun, poppy album to listen to. The first 4 tracks are excellent pop rock tunes. [2]

This feels like a guilty pleasure for me. I love it but I feel like I shouldn't. Maybe bring it out every couple of months, otherwise as other people have said, it all starts to sound the same. Still, good melodies and full of nice hooks.

An utter delight - my favorite of Weezer's albums, even over Blue. (It's a REALLY close call, though, I'll admit it.) Can't think of a single song on here I don't like. Island In The Sun will probably always be stuck in my head. (Also, may Mikey rest in peace...)

@goldengriffin90: "It's not as good as Blue or Pinkerton" and therein lies the problem. If any other band woulda put this out I'm sure people'd like it more, but considering Weezer's previous record it can't help but feel like a disappointing slide downwards.

@PartySanCTG I couldn't agree more. I listened to it on Spotify the other day and it turned out pretty much out I expected. It starts out pretty strong but after awhile the songs start to sound the same. "Hash Pipe" is probably the most blandest of them all. The only songs I actually enjoyed were "Photograph", "Island in the Sun", and "Don't Let Go".
