Por más que Nathan Williams, alma y cerebro de Wavves, se confiese fan incondicional de los Beach Boys, su música esquiva la dulzura del pop californiano para instalarse directamente en ese campo minado en el que operan No Age, Times New Viking o Mika Miko. Punk lo-fi y espíritu garagero salpicado de estribillos brillantes para una banda que, después de estrenarse en 2008 con un álbum homónimo y autoeditado, inaugura 2009 con la reedición de ese mismo álbum a través del sello De Stijl. Proyecto unipersonal que empieza y acaba con el propio Williams, Wavves se expande en directo con la presencia de Ryan Ush.
