Pianista de Jazz conocido cariñosamente como «Pixie». Nació en San Francisco el 17 de julio de 1928. Guaraldi confirma la poderosa influencia de Jimmy Yancy en sus inicios. Interpretó el piano junto a artistas como Nina Simone, Stan Getz, Jimmy Witherspoon y Cal Tjader, participando en más de 20 álbumes. En los años 60´s compuso temas musicales para la serie Carlitos «Peanuts» en la que su aporte musical jugó un papel importante. Murió a la edad de 47 años. Su música ha sido interpretada por Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck y David Benoit.
