    Their stage presence is unreal.

Stop with your boring comparisons. By the way, it reminds me of Encircling Sea somehow.

I hear a ton more Altar of Plagues, Ash Borer, Falls of Rauros than I do Deafheaven. [2]

I don't get the deafheaven comparisons. I like these guys way more. The drums at the end of Apex are epic.

i can't say deafheaven is garbage, even though i dislike them, dem vocals be awful. this is way better, still not my fav, but a solid listen.

Sky Swallower is a very good debut album. It reminds me a lot of Vertebrae-era Enslaved and that is a positive thing. The music isn't very fast but it feels like a slow motion avalanche coming over you.

Damn. The U.S. is really stepping up their black metal game...

I can sort of see the Deafheaven comparisons (I like both bands) but Vattnet Viskar's sound is much more rooted in black metal, and they also have a sludge element that definitely isn't present in Deafheaven's music. There is a certain amount of shoegaze and post-rock influence in Vattnet Viskar's sound, but neither genre is anywhere near as prominent as it is in Deafheaven's. If you like Deafheaven you'll probably also like Vattnet Viskar, but if you don't like Deafheaven there's also a reasonably good chance you'll also like Vattnet Viskar.

This new album is amazing! I can get the comparison to Deafheaven, but these guys are much more rooted in black metal in it's aesthetics, spirit, approach etc. I kinda like it more than Sunbather already.

My only real complaint with the album is that they didn't do any spellbinding epics of the scale of Barren Earth. But I like all the songs on it, so I can't really complain.

I'm actually disappointed with the album. After that amazing EP I was hoping for more. It's dull in comparison. Where are the goose bumpish emotions? The music doesn't affect the same way. It just... sounds.

The new album is amazing. May be a stupid comparison, but it feels like Deafheaven's Sunbather but way darker and sludgier... like Sunbather but turned to the dark side.

Copy came in. It's really good. Shorter than I expected, but still really good. The blurb on the cover sticker, which compares them to GY!BE, Neurosis, Swans, and Agalloch, is not too far off.
