Formados en Bristol, Inglaterra, en 1993, los experimentales Up, Bustle & Out lo formaron los productores Rupert Mould y D. “Ein” Fell. Ambos combinaban con habilidad influencias que iban desde el funk y el soul al jazz, house, ambient y el trip-hop, con sonidos tradicionales de Estambul, Bolivia, Andalucía y el Norte de África. Con el single “Une Amitie Africaine”, el dúo atrajo la atención del sello de Coldcut, Ninja Tune, publicando su primer LP, “The Breeze Was Mellow”, en 1994. Su siguiente disco, “One Colour Just Reflects Another”, apareció en 1996.
