Musicalmente, el disco presenta a Amos expandiendo exitosamente sus horizontes, incluyendo potentes guitarras eléctricas («Iieee», «She’s your cocaine»), loops («Hotel», «Raspberry swirl»), ritmos procesados y voces filtradas («Cruel»). Never seen blue», «Cooling», «Merman», «Purple people»).

This is the album that really got me into Tori Amos, still as beautiful to listen to today as it was in 1998 when I had it on repeat in my Cassette walkman.

I just got to hear this album last nite, after buying Boys For Pele some weeks back. It feels like a slightly more easy listen than BFP...slightly more commercial maybe but still an amazing album of songs. I love her on-the-edge vocals and lyrics. Need to listen to it a bit more, as i'm still crazy in love with BFP which is an incredible album, and my first introduction to Tori really.

Agree about Tori's tracklist. Much more better than official one.

Just extraordinary how the alternative track listing tells an entirely different story when listened through in sequence. I much prefer it.

i once read a really interesting review of this by a christian website and they really went into religiously psychoanalysing (if that's possible) the individual songs and basically concluded that she was a messed up heathen and that this album would probably be damaging for impressionable young christians. but i never found it again.
