Sight for sore eyes it's a long time no see
Workin' hard hardly workin' hey man you know me
Water under the bridge, did you see my new car?
Well it's bought and it's payed for parked outside of the bar

It is definitely not a variation on the Wilhelmus: the intro of Tom Waits' song is Auld Lang Syne, an old Scottish folk song. You might think it is the Wilhelmus, because it is also the melody of a very popular Dutch soccer hymn by André Hazes, frequently sung at soccer matches ("Wij houden van Oranje" / "We love orange", referring to our national/royal family's colour). Autre chanson de la ville de Chartres assiégée par le prince de Condé, the original song where the Dutch anthem Wilhelmus takes its meldoy from is a different melody all together. The rest of Waits' song is The First Noel/Nowell, an old English Christmas carol. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_lang_syne and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_First_Noel

I recognise the intro as a variation on "Het Wilhelmus", the Dutch national anthem. The melody of which is, apparently, based on "Autre chanson de la ville de Chartres assiégée par le prince de Condé". No idea about *its* connection with "Auld lang syne" though.

The intro is Auld Lang Syne! The main melody is also taken from somewhere else... but I really can't remember what it is!! Anyone able to help?!

I know this came much earlier, but does anybody else think this sounds a little bit like the Rugrats theme song? The main verse of this, that is. Also, what is the intro? I really can't think of what song that is!
