I dont see why he would post here so regularly if he didnt like them. He's probably just having a joke like all the people comparing them to animal collective around these parts. Im surprised their name was even brought up here.

By the way, what's your opinion on Death in June? Seeing as one of their members was in the National Front at one point, I thought they might come under the same scrutiny. (I noticed they're one of your most listened artists. However, I do acknowledge the tenuous possibility that you've listened to them over 3,000 times and you still don't "like" them).

Also, you shouldn't be so eager to lump the other three members of TG into the "fascist Nazi" tag because you have to remember that one of them is homosexual and I'm pretty sure the Nazis were against that sort of thing. Besides, how long did it take you to notice that they wore Nazi regalia?! I thought it was pretty blatant (if you look through the photos) and I've noticed you've been posting on this shoutbox for quite a while.

@svirgula - Seeing as you've racked up over 100 plays for Wagner, it wasn't wrong of me to presume that you liked him. Of course, you could have been having an extended "try out" period with Wagner, but I thought that would be a bit tenuous. However, you response also suffers from a few mistakes. An aspect of fascism is to silence those who disagree with you. If you had the Anti-Fascist League come around and "silence" TG, then that would be hypocritical, no matter if Genesis happens to be "fascist." In silencing certain viewpoints, you are exhibiting very similar behaviour to what Stalin and Hitler did during World War II, particularly towards artists.

@MrLJM: your response suffers from a few mistakes. the fact that the user has a listened to an artist a large number of times does not in itself imply that the user likes that artist. also, wagner's antisemitism is excusable in the sense that it was a norm for his culture and his time. it was also of a different type than the nazi's and other contemporary quasi-systematic bigots. but genesis cannot be excused in the same way. genesis certainly knew better. this, folks, is why i cannot like throbbing gristle. this is why antifa should show up at TG shows and get these shitbags kicked out of town. faschos should follow their leader.

@svirgula - Therefore, you cannot like Richard Wagner either, but I see you have quite a few plays racked up for him. I hope you're being ironic about TG and what I just said was just me misinterpreting you.

Interesting debate. Well ...honestly i really don't care if they are a racist band or not.... surely I'm not a racist person that's why i just appreciate their form of art ! I like their subversive and innovative music..that's all *__*

nope!! i think that must be wrong cuz genesis said the song 'subhuman' was about gypsies that moved into the parking lot near the death factory. he wrote it cuz they started stealin' stuff, were filthy brown ppl. then he turned the death factory into a fortress with monte and started dressin' up in military uniforms. so, throbbing gristle must be a racist band. therefore, i cannot like throbbing gristle.

They even try it on the front cover of 20 Jazz Funk Greats. Even though it looks like a pretty innocent scene, I think they're standing on Beachy Head in East Sussex (which is a notorious spot for suicides). It probably is Beachy Head because it would fit in with the track 'Beachy Head' they have on the album.
