well, technically for me, you could say it was reverse too, as I discovered FLA and F242 in 1994, and black metal about 2 years later. the thing is, it took internet access---around 2001---for me to really get into the electro-industrial/ebm/noise stuff (as a genre, rather than just a select few specific groups). so i don't know if that counts.
i'm not surprised to learn many folks who enjoy/play black metal secretly harbor yearnings to explore electro-industrial/aggrotech/whatever music... indications go back as far as at least Mysticum (although I'm sure there were indications with early works of Aborym and Diabolicum, and possibly others). Anyway, I think the Allied Vision association is fair, though his work has always been a bit more complex / multi-layered, imo.
