From Mill haven maximum security

It isn't about Milggard. Milgaard was totally innocent. So sad though when you think about it. The guy knew he would get caught again by going home but just had to (and yeah you can't really blame a guy for killing someone who rapes his sister).

I always knew the story in this song sounded familiar. It wasnt til today that I realized it was about David Milgaard. Neat.

Need for the song is tragic, but telling our stories in song is as old as time. Hurts to hear this one, though.

Is it just me? Or does the singer sound like Tracy Chapman on this song?

This song is written about a Lifer who got sent away to prison for a crime he didn't commit. LIFE in prison for being a neighbour and friend of the girl that was killed. David Milgaard was eventually released at age 38, as DNA evidence finally cleared him of the crime.

i HATE this song. my hometown's country station played it way too much when i was growing up. its a pity, though, it probably is a really good song.
