Los Slackers son una de las más conocidas bandas de la escena SKA emergidas de la ciudad de Nueva York, después de haberse formado en Brooklyn en 1991. El sonido de la banda es una mezcla de Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Dub, Soul, Garage Rock y Jazz. Su popularidad y carisma ha sido indispensable en su prolífica carrera, han hecho giras por América del Norte, Europa y otros lugares; actualmente se encuentran bajo el sello Hellcat Records.
Hay varios proyectos secundarios de los integrantes de la banda, entre ellos estan: David Hillyard & The Rocksteady Seven, Crazy Baldhead Sound System, Da Whole Thing, The SKAndalous All Stars, así como tambien un proyecto acústico de Vic Ruggiero.
