Our new album Mood Processor is ready:
It's accumulated over the past two years, whilst we've been driving under the influence of Neu!, Spacemen 3, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, George Harrison, Tony Harrison, Echo & the Bunnymen, Sun Arraw, freakbeat & psilocybin silliness. Really proud of this one, hope you enjoy it!
With the album now racing up the charts, thought i’d get round to providing links to individual tracks:
You Think You Are – i was quite pleased with the lyrics on this one, being a shopping list of things i enjoyed growing up (Airfix Models, Gerry Anderson’s Captain Scarlett, Northern Soul, Minder, Mayfair magazine and Hammer movies all get a mention). Musically, there’s mellotron, acoustic guitars and droning harmonium going on in the background.
Hairy Holiday – i fancy something a bit, hairy is the cheeky Robin Askwith sample, and the music is like Neu! meets ‘what goes on’ Velvet Underground, at the disco.
Friends from Ceylon – Ceylonese friends are something of a controversial topic in fortress Australia, so here’s my ethereal psych ballad of love and acceptance.
Darkness and the Sun – an English pastoral folk song, with a mod soul bassline, and kraut-esque solar fuzz emerging towards the end.
Mushroom – a rushing freakbeat number with an explosion of e-bowed feedback in the middle.
Mushroom Hirsute – things get hairy here, in a decidedly funky instrumental with wah-wah guitars, phased keys and psilocybin silliness.
Beauty and Wonder – let your mind wander to this one, a hypnotic acoustic drone, featuring guest appearance of Roger Moore with a message about hard drugs. Frankly, if you won't listen to Roger Moore, who will you listen to?
Black Pollen – time for some generally directed misanthropy, in an echo & the bunnymen musical stylee.
Eternally Recurring – all roads lead to kraftwerk.
