Formados en agosto de 1980 y con más de 40 discos en su carrera, The Legendary Pink Dots son una de las bandas británicas más prolíficas y constantes. Su alineación es variable, con el cantante Edward Ka-Spel y el tecladista Phil Knight (también llamado The Silverman) como únicos integrantes fijos. Su sonido es una amalgama de psicodelia, industrial, ambient, synth-pop y folk, siendo comparados por algunos críticos con Syd Barrett y Can. Desde mediados de los ochenta residen en Holanda.

Miembros de The Legendary Pink Dots han colaborado con Nurse With Wound,The Dresden Dolls, Jarboe, HNAS, Jim O’Rourke, cEvin Key (Skinny Puppy). Junto con este último Edward Ka-Spel formó The Tear Garden, y Key colaboró en «9 Lives to Wonder» (1994) de LPD.

So, the "Ravens" flew to the Netherlands to nest. When we first encountered TLPDs they were squatting in Oakfield Road,Ilford and there was a lot of commotion about a cucumber. Phil Knight - the milkman who always delivered - and April (Illyfe for music) were in residence. Mandy and Richard are the "we" concerned. You may (or may wish not to) remember us! Glad to see you doing well and to hear you on radio 2. Will catch up if we can in Dalston on the 15th.

@the_sagga: as far as I remember, the band (or at least Ka-Spel) depend on the financial support of their listeners. In an interview, Edward mentioned that he earns a living only by making music - he has to cut corners sometimes, but he does manage it. I think that's a very good reason for us to make the LPDs more known to the public. It doesn't mean they have to turn their backs on their fans, all they need is a little highlighting. :-)
