THE GOURISHANKAR (significado “la montaña tan alta como el Everest”) es una mezcla única de viejo y de nuevo, la música que vela la línea entre Prog moderno y Retro Prog— imaginar a DREAM THEATER mezclado con TAAL y PORCUPINE TREE. Rechazan etiquetarse como etiqueta Prog pero es obvia en ellos. Marcado con profesionalismo excepcional, estos músicos (Nomy Agranson - guitarras, bajos, coros; Doran Usher - teclados y programación; Vlad MJ Whiner - vocal; Cat Heady - bateria) reunidos en la ciudad provincial rusa de Syktyvkar. Se conocían ya de actividades en proyectos relacionados, y todavía participan en ellos (de rock alternativo a la electrónica). Después de lanzar algúna versión-trabajo (una de ellos incluyó el GENTLE GIANT’s «For Nobody»), ellos han aceptado firmar en el sello de UNICORN y este primavera lanzaron su primer CD oficial “2nd Hands”. Es completamente espectacular— tenemos influencias de casi cada género musical y de una base melódica fuerte proveída de complejidad. Las “2nd Hands” se pueden recomendar a todos los seguidores de Prog debido a su belleza universal. Una de las más prometedoras bandas de la escena rusa.
