I think band, given the amazing amount of work they had been having before, feel just fine working with anyone who'd alow them to go on tour and make some cash. Anyhow I'd like to check it out if I was at my hometown when they play there next month... a germs karaoke has to be fun, even if its my father who's singing... By the way, I wouldn't give a fuck if Darby crash himself was singin (and I mean 30 years older and all)

Shane was fine in the movie. But he's no Darby, there will never be another Darby. He shouldn't have toured with them, but that's just my opinion. Now that i've put in my 2 cents, i have to ask. FlyingSalt, I have no comment on the movie. Never bothered to watch it. But to display my abject fan girl-ism, I will note one thing that all the other commenters have failed to: Shane West has a great smile. Devious and charming. But anyway, I agree that Darby did do a better job as singer. They were his songs. But the band was okay with West filling in. They played well together and I made a decision before the concert (and they can come back to Nowheresville anytime) that even if Shane sucked, the music couldn't be any different and the show would be good. Hell, one singer doesn't make a whole band.
